This video is pretty old. I didn't write down an outline for the video in the past. Still don't sometimes. I dug this up from my archive yesterday but its probably a few years old now.
@robertwood58315 сағат бұрын
I got a similar setup at my deer camp. Except I actually have on grid electricity. I got a 300 gal water tank just for showers and solar too. I'm not fully off grid but prepared in case the grid goes down.
@goodcitizen458722 сағат бұрын
Why just 2 solar panels? Get a dozen used panels for like $30 a panel.
@mountain-man04 сағат бұрын
This was a very low dollar setup. Bulk panels weren't in the budget back then. These were from a wholesaler.

I was thinking of doing this same thing. Does any hose fight over that valve?
@mountain-man07 күн бұрын
@@roberttrujillo7502 I used a standard garden hose. Your setup may differ though. Worth a try!

Propane tank and weed flamer is a great multi tool. Used em at the parks for hives, charring, etc. cleaning gutters! I’m jk. 😂 but yeah great way to treat lumber. If you got a bunch of good timber on your property think about converting some to lumber works chainsaw mill. Cheap, easy, fun! Good luck with your property brother! Stay safe
@mountain-man0Ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes, we have a lot of timber and at this point much of it is weakened by drought and disease anyways, needs to be thinned out to give some of it a chance. My family across the road have a woodland mills portable sawmill. We had previously used a chainsaw mill which does work but for the lumber to build an entire home would be a bit much for me with a very slowly healing broken back. So far 90℅ of the lumber I've used here has been off the mill. Its great!

@@mountain-man0 This trick and the second line on the level are common knowledge in the trades and have been around for decades. Not all levels have the second line, though. You sound excited by this trick and the last thing I want to do is diminish that or seem like I'm verbally beating you up. If you ever have to do this again, tape is easier to deal with than a wire tie. If you like this trick then you're gonna love the 3,4,5 trick for finding square or the 45 trick with a speed square for finding the center of a board.

I want to get into planting and gardening but its so hot and i dont know what type of soil to deal with
@mountain-man0Ай бұрын
I came from the Southwest where it was very hot. Shade cloth is your friend. A raised garden or one entirely in pots works OK if you don't know what to do with your soil. No bad soil, just a matter of working with it. Organic matter (compost) almost always helps. Just make sure you get good stuff and don't bring any new pests or diseases in with it

@ 6:57 you talk about not wanting to be trapped by a job you hate. Why not take the time and money you have to develop yourself a set of usable skills that society depends on? Im in a similar situation myself but i have a fiance who helps me financially. We both share a sh1tty apartment and want to start a family someday. The world is your oyster and not everyone can become doctors, politicians or land lords. Mechanics make good money if you take the time to learn. Thats what im going to learn myself. There are a few job opportunities around me at $50 an hour and sure beats 30 haha. I guess what im trying to say is broaden your horizons and just see whats out there. I have no college education and am doing better than most of my old classmates because i have the ability and desire to learn something completely out of comfort zone. Anyways, best of wishes to you man. I hope everything works out in your favor and you stay true to yourself and goals.

I have considered trades and things. Personally I prefer business. Gives me time to work at my own pace. Wrote a short informational book. Editing it now. Do IT work on the side. I have consistent work but it only pays around $20-30 an hour right now but no schedule. I just login. I also do plant nursery, am a master gardener, many other things. I broke my back years ago and have been working to get things back on track. Kinda turned me into a curmudgeon when it comes to w2 employment. Im productive but don't fit the mold. Usually when I have jobs I end up burning out quick and re-injuring myself, my back demands that I constantly pace myself and that pace doesn't do well for employers so I make my own way. Its a pain in the butt but worth it. If my back could take it I would be a mechanic or carpenter probably, as it sits I can just barely handle my own project load. Good luck to you!
