What about Oxford over grips? The "Hot Hands" , put them on in the months you need them, take them off when you don't. Fit them to a switched live and off you go. Put them on, take them off as you need.

Its a great bike, I got mine in 2019 and have best. Best is the engine and the range, can do 220-240km on mine before gas refil What I dont like so much is the heat (very hot) from the muffler and the handguards as stock.

Why has no one talked about this before, I would go one step further, take your wife/GF. There is nothing better for bringing a couple together and its safer with two sets of eyes. A few years back we bought a Vespa GTS 125 in north Norfolk and rode it back to our house in central Portugal...with the missus. You have the right attitude to biking and life. We have bikes and a small campervan and tour on two and four wheels, last year is was Greece and Turkey and like you went to the Red Sea in Bulgaria. I am 72 now and life is short, too short to stay home, even when that home is lovely Portugal.

I ride solo 98% of the time. "retired" amateur roadracer, so most are too slow.. but some are too fast for my taste. I like Ienatsch's "The Pace", but make it a quick one. IBA member, so endurance is higher than average. If I'm out to really ride, it's solo. Everything else is "socializing with motorcycles".

A few years back I did a solo ride that was 80 days / ~ 43,000 km. There are 65 capital cities in Canada and the USA and my goal was to see 63 of them. (Exclude Honalulu & Iqaluit). I missed Juneau due to a rock slide that blocked the one road access so I reached 62 of them. The longest single day ride was 16+ hours / 1180 km - Whitehorse to Hazelton, BC, on the way to Victoria, BC. I always knew what my next destination was but how I got there was seldom planned ahead of time so I could never make a motel reservation. The other long solo trip was in western Europe - 70 days / ~ 24,000 km. I visited 17 countries. The only specific places I wanted to visit were some of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetaries, particularly the one at Ortona. (It was 70th anniversary of the end of WW II. ) Again I never knew where I was going to stop for the night. Riding solo permits a great deal of flexibility on the roure and schedule. I recommend it highly.

I have had 4 x Rade tank failures. They claim to have fixed the problem with where the metal joins to the plastic but if yours have failed in the last few weeks, I don't hold any hope for mine.
@stranobikes
@stranobikes 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. That's not good because conceptually the auxiliary tanks are a great idea. I emailed Rade Garage after examining the tank in some detail and this was what I sent them 'I have examined the banjo bolt insert and it seems to me that perhaps the banjo bolt is too long OR the hole drilled in the plastic tank is too small OR the metal insert is not located exactly in the centre of the hole in the plastic tank, if indeed the hole IS the correct size. Whichever is the problem the banjo bolt, when inserted and tightened, is going too far into the tank and pressing onto the plastic of the tank where the hole has been drilled. On my tank it looked to me as if the tank plastic was slightly over the threaded hole and this may/would result in the bond being compromised when fitting and tightening the banjo bolt. It would seem to me that the hole should be bigger than the threaded insert and then the banjo bolt would only engage with the threaded metal insert.' Rade Garage have responded and they are examining tanks to see if my conclusion is valid. I've asked them to keep me in the loop.

at 165 Pounds for that seat gel kit, given all the work you put in modifying your seat, seems like you may have been better off buying the Seat Concepts seat.
@stranobikes
@stranobikes 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. You may be right. I've just had the seat re-sculptured locally so I'll be interested to see how my backside copes with it. The chap who's done the work has reworked hundreds of seats and his comment regarding the gel was that it works well if you have 2 inches of foam underneath, the Husky seat, of course, doesn't.
@evelcustom9864
@evelcustom9864 2 ай бұрын
@@stranobikes So I have been doing a great deal of looking and comparing of bikes and plan on getting the 701 for the exact same reasons you got yours; adv capability but light enough for trails and to pick up when dropped. The seat seems to be the biggest problem I would like to solve (and I would like it to be comfortable in the back also for my wife to sit on time to time). One thought I had was if there is a way to have a super plush comfy add-on seat that could essentially be fitted on top of the stock seat for highway cruising (attached with some clips or something) but could be popped off and stashed in the top box if you wanna hit some trails. Like a convertible. The other thought was to lust have a place customize the original seat with new, shaped foam, and leather etc (not cheap obviously).

@@evelcustom9864 Thanks for watching. My wife and I use a GS1200 Rallye Sport for our two-up touring and my wife (who is slim and doesn't have a fat @rse) sits on an air cushion, which she finds pretty comfortable. If you Goggle 'Motorcycle air cushion seat' you'll find something similar. I think two-up on the 701 is.......ambitious! I've just had my 701 seat re-shaped and I'll be showing it on the channel soon, it is to be determined whether it makes any difference.

I have a 2021 Husky 701 enduro. I bought a complete Seat Concepts XL seat for mine from Rocky Mountain ATV. The XL is actually extra wide (not sure why it isn’t called XW), but not any taller than the stock seat. It is much better than stock, but not cushy by any means.

fill the wheels with 200ml of stans tubeless gloop as you mount them, it is liquid that seals and goes stiff if it finds air - as for fork seals, they go - that is life on dirtbikes and 4k is not bad at all, i bet you jet wash your bike ? Often you may have some shit stuck in there allowing the oil to leak and you can clean them out with a very thin piece of plastic or a specific seal saver tool
@stranobikes
@stranobikes 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and thanks for the tip on the gloop. I do use a jet wash at times but with upside-down forks the jet is going in the wrong direction to affect the seals.

Sounds to me like you would be better picking a location somewhere in spain or portugal and going out on different loops each day, that would get you your preferred base/hotel of choice and you would also get the variation on riding and ability to choose what to do with your time. On your point about the concentration and missing the landscape etc, well you are riding a motorcycle off road alone and in a foreign land often away from anywhere as you say - focus on the challenge is paramount - your health is at risk as i am sure you well aware. There was absolutely nothing stopping you from making different choices along the way which you rightly did after a few days in the saddle, experience gained - well done for doing it and i hope the next one works out more to your liking, that said i struggle when i hear these stories because it is almost like people out there think what they read and see will not apply to them when on the TET. Simply out riding in the UK you may never bump into someone in a 12 hour ride, never mind in the Spanish deserts or mountains, my mind boggles.

I was recently in an accident where the driver in front slammed on the brakes and I couldn't do it on time. My motorcycle skidded and I had the whole left side rib cage broken. Underwent a chest reconstruction surgery. If there was an automatic braking and abs on my bike, I could have saved 6 months of agony. There is definitely some place for tech.
