Someone commented that Vern Kelley seemed "too calm and matter-of-fact" on Unsolved Mysteries, back in the late 80s. I think he was still in disbelief, back then. Then, it sank into him for 25 years, and Vern knew just how real this tragic story was. Vern DOES seem more deflated here, than in 1990.

Biggest fraud scam in Indiana. Inmates run the asylum. Families were fraudulently sold a bill of goods that their children will learn discipline, while getting the highest level of academia. To call the institutions curricula "sub-par", would be a compliment. It is deplorable. The education staff were a culmination of impoverished locals who are desperate for employment, failed teachers in the public school system, and legacies that are only there because "daddy works there". The staff in charge of the barracks were a little cabal of failed military retirees, active military trying to serve out their time quietly to get their full pension, and inept adults who allowed/enabled the student to student abuse that took place every single day on site. Basically, this was an island of misfit toys that started from the commandant all the way down to the plebe student who had no idea what he/she signed up for. This place couldn't be shut down any faster than it was.

Mr. Dennis. I have an intern that I work with who really loves this video and would love to have you come visit at our community based transition program in Tacoma, WA. He wants to be friends with you as well as work in our cafeteria and show us the ropes! If you are able to respond to this, that would be awesome! Thank you!

What I hated the most in my 20 years as a custodian was taking abuse from the blue collar female workers, like lunch ladies, teacher's assistants, office workers and so on, and getting reported for talking back when it got to be too much. Never did have a problem with the actual teachers, but those blue collar female workers were horrible.

The limitation for SDI is that they are a scrap based operation. There are certain product lines that require a high purity of iron and SDI can not touch that market. Their Iron Dynamics facility is not cost competitive with a large blast furnace like those on the great lakes. Their Mesabi Nugget and Iron Carbide plants were horrible investments. They could invest in direct reduced iron like Nucor and Cleveland Cliffs but the problem there is the volatile nature of natural gas pricing makes that questionable at best. SDI has reach their limits in the steel industry.

Leader in non-automotive metallic coated products Dominate the prepainted steel market Constructing first domestic aluminum mill in decades Also, IDI is a rotary hearth furnace, not a blast furnace.
@felixyusupov72993 ай бұрын
@@danmark4435 I know ever inch of that Bricmont supplied rotary hearth furnace and the SMS supplied submerged arc furnace. The point is Iron Dynamics is not cost competitive with a large blast furnace and that is SDI's limiting factor. Sourcing pig iron from South Africa is not a long term solution either because there is a cost in transporting it half way around the world.

@usupov7299 Thanks for your comments. Can you recommend anything one could read (or watch) to understand these limiting factors?
@felixyusupov72993 ай бұрын
@@dmg46664 I would reference internal reports at US Steel however you do not have access to them. Midrex is a good reference. They have the best DRI process out there but understand that if the cost of natural gas gets too high then yours would shut down just like several before that came and went in the USA. You can put it overseas in a country that has cheap natural like Nucor did but there is the concern of political instability and ever present fear of nationalization of resources. US Steel found that out the hard way. They had a DRI plant in Venezuela and it was naturalized in the 1970s. I know this because my father commissioned it and was involved in running it.

They sell you on healthy but this isn’t healthy. My kids refuse to eat school lunch so I’m forced to make them a lunch everyday. I prefer it that way anyway because then I know what I’m making is not from frozen/thawed food. Compared to schools in Japan, American schools have the worse lunch options. This needs to change. What happened to Michelle obama’s lunch menu?
