Even without the plates securing the ankles, waste and neck this looks impossible, with the plates - double impossible! So there can only be one way out - pure magic!

The closer you look, the less you see. One more hing: What is shown in detail, what later on not at all. 😁

Im probably wrong but i think she somehow manipulated the bottom, not saying she escaped through the bottom, but she couldve manipulated it. Magicians are also very careful with their words when they dont intentionally lie (which im pretty sure you cant do here), SHE SAID THAT "im on the beach to show that there are no trap doors", she did however never say that there were no trap doors.

Wow, did not see that one before. Meanwhile she is 5 time fooler 🙂. I am not sure if I had seen all episodes. Even P&T "Bucket of Blood"-routine seems to be based on one of her methods.

Watching you fool P+T out of order and after watching the milk and rod fool them a first/second time I still have no idea. I can't imagine this being possible without some sort of gasket but I have no idea how that would be possible. Love your work Helen (and Arthur).

I'm fairly certain she went out from the front, the sides, the top or the bottom. Potentially one of the corners even!

The voiceover was pre-recorded, so you don't hear what's actually happening. First, release you hands. the waist restraint will move slightly to to allow it. Then, grab the door, and lift it off the hinges, swing it open using the locked latch as a new hinge. Climb out. Replace restraints, put door back on hinges. Just in time for the voiceover to end, and you can drop the curtain.

@@ApacheGamingUK Also there was enough space for a second person with a key hiding behind the box. We never saw the back of the box uncovered, here I wonder how Penn and Teller got fooled.

I just found a VHS tape of the MIdday Show with Derryn HINCH where his daughter Helen escaped in 1m 40s from a water barrel. I'm dubbing it to digital now then I heard about this. WOWEE!

I'm here because I heard Arthur being interviewed on ABC's "Conversations" He almost ran out of time on this escape. He looked a bit pale at the end.

In a recent interview, Arthur said that he almost died in this escape. He had trouble getting out and only because of an assistant adding some extra length to the rope that gave him enough time to get out. If the length of rope was used that Arthur had planned, he might not have got out of the drum in time.

At a business breakfast in Tweed Heads in about 2007, where Arthur was the guest speaker that morning, he said that it was a Nine Network staffer that made the decision to add a little rope. I have not seen the interview in more recent times, but either way it was a wise choice by an unsung hero.
