Seeking a recommendation on a sealer for old concrete in a home. I inherited a home with a cat urine problem on the concrete floor. I’ve tried everything to clean the urine. At this point need to seal the concrete to keep the smell form coming thru the luxury vinyl plank floor esp when the concrete pores open when it rains outside. What type of sealer is recommended?

Even easier. Get a hose-clamp ($3.99 at ACE) and use a screwdriver or nut-driver to tighten it on. Then use a hammer to pound on the screwdriver in the correct direction to loosen the aerator.

I used Penifin and it doesn't last. I replaced my outdoor deck handrail that was mahogany with Captains varnish and lasted for years with a occasional recoating. So, I rebuilt the rail with Ipe with Pennifin, looks great new but useless, I'm sanding it and reapplying it every 6 months. Same work to prep for varnish which lasts much longer. Obviously, you can't put varnish on the deck, but I did something else. The deck is #1 cedar, sanded with a rented floor sander, real fast! Then coated with Sikkens semigloss but the secret was we mixed in Surf coat glass beads to make it nonskid. Held up for years. In fact, I have a section with a floor mat that's 15+ year old and is fine. Now I'm planning on a renovation and will probably go Ipe with Sikkens or equivalent with glass beads. Don't waste your time with oils....

I've tried two of the products tested here in on my Ipe deck rail caps that are hard-hit by California sunshine, and my experience matches yours. Started with the Penofin after the wood was installed, then tried the DeckWise (and Part 1 cleaner) formulated for Ipe. Both are fairly pricey options, and both looked beautiful for the first couple months. But both faded almost completely within six to eight months, and the weathered gray is not a good look.

how was application done on the instructions when at least 2 of them require reapplication 2 months, and then 6 months later?

I just had a client send me this video as to why they are going with a stain rather than a rosewood oil on Ipe. This is one of the dumber things I've ever seen. I would love for you to show some hardwood decks you've actually ever stepped on, let alone built. You're going to see us in 6 months with zero foot traffic on any of this, and act like you're doing something good for the consumer? or the professional? what a load of horse manure this video is. Please, if you are a homeowner, do not listen to this. And to answer the question about why there is no update, its because nothing he said has any relevance to real life.

However, you did not mention any particular brands, nor did you mention a store where it can be purchased. I have been to three different Lowe's stores, Home Depot, Ace Hardware and Harbor Freight. When I told them that I wanted a sodium or lithium silicate concrete sealer, they looked at me like I had a tree sprouting out of my forehead. What brand do I get? Where is it sold?
