Yes time consuming, but rewarding. Do the valve cover gaskets, intake gasket, and wires also.

I remember my sister bought one of these brand new in 2002 and I liked it... but I liked my other sister's 2000 Xterra much better! I'm looking into these again because the second generation Rodeo is my all-time favorite SUV. They just are more fun to drive for me than the 4runners and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen Pathfinder ( although I did love my 95 Pathfinder) but the Rodeo can have transmission issues, and the Xterra feels too small for me in the cabin. This leads me to the Montero Sport. From my recent research I'm hearing that they have little to no transmission issues and have a ridiculously reliable motor apparently. Sounds like they're quite possibly somewhere between a Nissan or 4runner from that time period... is this true?

Hey i have a 1999 mitsubishi montero sport 3.0 208k miles it seems to be running on only 4 cylinders instead of all 6 i got the spark plugs and wires changed and its still running the same what could be my problem
@buggzyy3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you have 1 coil not working. Coils are controlled by the transistor module and triggered by the crank sensor. Seen lots of crank sensor plate retaining pins break after a timing belt change
@juanherrera26722 жыл бұрын
@@buggzyy dose this issue throw a code cause my moms runs rough after timing belt replaced and we replaced wires coils idler controller egr valve module checked tons of things and it won’t shut off when I pinch hose and gunna check the cam sensor plate pin. Variable Pin Spanner Wrench part number 526908-8<----this saved my life! Been looking for the MB990767 (Tool) plus MD998715 (pins) as listed in the shop manual but never found this part number ANYWHERE! To find this tool really easy look up OTC 6613 Variable Pin Spanner Wrench! Amazon can next day ship (with Prime) current price is $62.00 as of 03.04.2021 It would have been nice to hear the commentary but as a person that can't stand to hear his own voice recorded I could understand it not being there! Not a fan of the music but so what this video is just great and thank you for posting this!

Very heplful video! Is there a timing belt inspection window somewhere? I need to check mine. What's the easiest way to inspect it, or how much needs to come apart?
@buggzyy3 жыл бұрын
There is a small inspection window on most. Its on the RH (pass) side cam belt cover. But to be honest its useless to inspect this way. Timing belts don't usually show wear unless they are way overdue and coming apart. The manufacture recommends changing the belt every 5yrs or 60,000mi.
