Wow, I really appreciate it, thanks for taking some time! I see the kind of sicle path your hand go through. It looks smooth and makes the increased distribution of force on the hands very clear! Im not really sure if I understood the hand position correctly and hopw to implement it for my slides. The setup tip is also nice, im gonna loosen my bushings a little! But really, thanks a lot for taking some time, this is so nice! PS: But do you remember that here was a Video response feature, but that was yeaaaars ago...

Right, they would be unstable at speed because of the lack of caster effect.

Did you design those trucks? How are they at LDP? Please let me know when I can buy a set, thank you!
@LongboardTechnology17 күн бұрын
I'm partially involved, but its not my own project. For LDP, you'll have to lean too much to pump, and they're too tall to be good for pushing. I think we're getting close to having a version for sale but, IDK.

Guessing the platform can only go so low with all that lean? looks like it would be hella fun carving slow on steep hills.
@LongboardTechnology17 күн бұрын
Yes. They could go a bit lower, it doesn't need to lean as far as this can. But more or less, you're not going to go really low with these. Steep hills are where these were born, and what they're all about. I can't really do them justice on the silly little hill on my backyard.

I'm not hating on these. They seem very solidly constructed and I believe they would keep the water off my pants. The issue I see is the mounting method I'm certain would funnel water directly into your bearings. Anyone who has ridden in the elements knows wet bearings seize up literally within an hour of sitting idle. I like my Cloud Ride Hurricanes for wet work because they seem to have purposely engineered the hub to shed water away from the bearings upright or turned sideways. I've been trying to design a simple fender in my head out of thin flexible plastic. I tend to TimTaylor things I design a lot of times. I cursed engineers constantly for this as a tradesman. I've been leaning towards a simple flap with slots to match the base plate mounting holes. Just loosen truck hardware and slide them in. As long as they are plenty flexible and light weight it really wouldn't matter if they rub the wheels a little when turning.

Hey guys, I've been a fan of your channel since 2017 but haven't watch y'all for a while. Ive always trusted you're guys analysis of longboard trucks. What do you think is the best truck for LDP? Ronin, Rojas, Other Planet, Major Arc, Sciesmic G5?
@LongboardTechnologyАй бұрын
TBH, I don't really have the experience in LDP to really say. Other Planet could be nice for Long Distance Push, but would not have anything to offer for Long Distance Pump. It could be redesigned to be a good rear truck for both either I think, but as is, no. Rojas. Still one of my favorite trucks, but I feel like their ride is pretty harsh. So even though they have awesome turn and great response, distance skating I'd have a higher priority on comfort. They're also very tall. Ronin I think is a good option, good balance of precision, efficiency, and comfort. the caveat is they're a RKP geometry, and LDP isn't necessarily RKPs strongest use case. Seismic, they were designed for pump. I'm sure they have something to offer LDP, but I'm not sure how to get it from them. And Major Arc, I understand technologically how they work, don't have much insight into how they ride.
@ASAPSquatterRemovalАй бұрын
@@LongboardTechnology Thanks for the response guys! You're the best skateboard nerds ever! I know you guys have used the seismic G5 spring trucks because you have videos of them. Springs make sense for LDP since it allows for direct energy conservation. However Major Arc might have an edge if their rotating wheels design is more efficient. Would love to see you guys do some scientific tests to find out what truck is the best for LDP. You don't need to be an expert to collect data and you guys already have the engineering skills to solve this problem. Plus I bet it would be your most watched video, just sayin 😉

How where you able to get the single ball out of the bearing?
@Lastofourkind555Ай бұрын
Thanks for the education on these. I came across a set in great condition and figured I'd throw them on a long board cruiser just for a nostalgic old school type thing or for the uniqueness at the very least. When I went to mount them I quickly realized these trucks looked very familiar and I remember in the 70's a truck that was high dollar and used in downhill record setting called the Stroker . Not really the same in principle but it's reminiscent in the looks department. Anyway they ride alright and suite the purpose I put a deck together with them . Thanks again for the video much appreciated..

The Teflon where the heaviest pressure is on the bearings the heat generated bakes a super slick Teflon coating on those surfaces.
@michaelshultz25402 ай бұрын
Why not just get an old waterpick to blast them clean ? You can put hot water with alcohol in the waterpick . To get the water out just submerg them in everclear is 99% pure. I use super lube( which contains Teflon), synthetic grease . I pre wet the bearings with marvel mystery oil before greasing.

Awesome video, thank you!! Out of curiosity, would "triangular" grooves would be as vulnerable as square grooves, or similar to circular? Like using a square file on its side so its more "diamond" shape, only going half way, leaving triangular grooves in the wheels. 🤔
@LongboardTechnology4 ай бұрын
So, the advantage of a cutting a half round groove with a file is that you still end up with square lips, which should provide the most grip. A triangle groove would provide better support for the lip, but the lip would be less sharp. The difference is probably marginal though.

The thingiverse link has a download to a complete fusion 360 file for the truck including the baseplate. Its sloppily organized, and its for a 0 deg truck. But should be able to get all the dimensions from that.

Really awesome ideas! I think we can agree that the top deck-sub deck is the superior construciton compared to a ambition style snowskate. what would you think of a subdeck, that is shaped like an ∞, cut out of a snowboard? It would give stability while being on the edge and with a little bit of curve would't disturb a full send. Having a broader base in the rear would even allow tail usage

"what would you think of a subdeck, that is shaped like an ∞, cut out of a snowboard? " Shaped like that in terms of the sidecut, or what? Having trouble picturing.
@skate-further5 ай бұрын
@@LongboardTechnology Looking from above it would look like this: o=o while the o is shaped like a very flat bowl. DECK: == Subdeck: o=o with that you have a working kicktail and extra stability when carving, does this make more sense ?
@LongboardTechnology4 ай бұрын
Been spending a lot of time working on the design for the subdeck, and I've ended up with something that from the top looks like a cross between a figure 8, and a tongue depressor. Which seems to be fairly similar to what you were getting at.
