I have the bell and wish I would have saved for a xd4. It sounds like a jet is following me around and anything over 50mph it’s trying to pull my head off. Also not very comfortable. Get the arai.

Thanks for the video but I am suffering from information overload. I am an afternoon, pleasure, fair weather rider. I am looking for something that would serve that purpose. I am not knowledgeable, nor really interested in abrasion resistance or armour. I figure its going to hurt relative to the speed and terrain. Modular appeals to me because, hopefully, a single purchase will cover all of my riding needs. I had an Olympia with thermal and rain liners years ago that met most of my needs but it was written off on the 'The Tail'.. My leather is hot and heavy and single purposed (looking cool, and abrasion I guess) Any suggestions? Thanks

These are nice gloves and probably adequate fore the street, but the Scorpion XGS MKII Gloves at $90 a pair provide much more protection -- close to racetrack level protection.

If going by the scoring system here Aria got 89%, and the Bell scored roughly 10% less. From that stand point, you could almost buy 3 bell helmets for the price of one less safety rated base Aria. Isn't safety the main reason to wear a helmet? From a function, and price perspective, I'd go with the Bell. Granted the Bell is not a 4 season helmet. Just my .02

How well does this work in hot summer months and cooler months? Debating this or a Baja s4 with layers?

This kit works phenomenal for road touring. A commuter’s paradise it is. As anyone knows, true Adventure riding takes place on the means streets. Distracted Cagers are way more unforgiving than water crossings, dirt and gravel. 😂

I have the Klim and was really impressed with the overall quality. These days everything is made so cheap and the Kilm is really solid. Expensive- YES, but will last for years.

Hi there, three years later …. the algorithms have brought me to you - all the way over here in Suffolk, England and I’m glad they did. This was a very entertaining and comprehensive guide that I enjoyed very much, thank you. Now I’m going to sift through your other videos, hoping that they’re as good as this one - full of pertinent information and humour and avoiding all the confusing, tempting sales talk. Thanks very much for this great video! 👍

Great video - however, the Tornado is not an "Adventure Touring" jacket, it's a sport touring jacket. The Revit jacket you could/should? have used in lieu of the Tornado is the Levante II.

Interesting I was contemplating a bike specific pre loaded set. Until I looked at the price. I probably have most of the individual generic tools somewhere. I might need some specific torx bits ect. The oil thing and the coil do dad are under the seat. I don't know how many spark plug sockets I have lost in my basement. One must fit. Same with Allen wrench, crescent wrench, sockets etc. All regular or metric. I have some high grade and some cheep disposable The real question when will I ever actually get round to going and sorting a comprehensive set of bike specific tools for my bike. And putting them in a roll. I got tire plug, vice grip, multi driver, adjustable wrench and AA roadside assistance.

All mesh summer jackets are extremely hot to wear. Nobody makes a truly ventilated jacket. They all have stupid liners in them that trap all the heat. Pity.

Some gloves I’ve seen that have a California warning label that has some chemicals that cause cancer
@88sstraight5 ай бұрын
So don’t eat your gloves until they’ve completely off-gassed, give it a couple weeks before you dig in. Fava beans and a nice Chianti will pair well with most leathers, but you’ll want to stick to a Guinness and Dal if goat is on the menu.
@shoebert314 ай бұрын
literally everything you buy has a warning for that. California is a bunch of pussies
@kye698Ай бұрын
Yeah CA passed something a whileee ago that companies had to put a warning label for literally ANY trace amounts of carcinogens. Hence, why the warning label to CA residents specifically is almost on everything.

Yes you can save money, especially with bits, but those cheap bits strip, break or get stuck so you’re buying them 2-3+ times over. Cheap ratchets are clunky and have a lot of slop, which can be the difference between tightening that hard to reach bolt or not.
@motoapes36236 ай бұрын
Agreed. And, if time is money…you spend a lot of time putting a kit together.

I”m the opposite of you with fit. I feel like Klim must be sized around large potatoes, while Revit is sized around reasonably fit homo sapiens. :-)

FWIW I bought an Induction ,I think in 2016... commute 5 days a week with this ever since, with short breaks for another jacket for colder weather. Its held up almost 100%... some weathering of the reflectives. Im using it today. Seems like it will last forever. Easily washed on hand wash cycle with the armor removed.

Im interested in getting an airbag vest and was considering the Helite turtle 2 specifically for the neck immobilization. However, given your bit on rib fractures, it makes me think that maybe something like the Alpinestars tech air 5 may be a better option (no neck immobilization). Do you have an opinion one way or the other?
@Chemical_Alchemist7 ай бұрын
neck injuries would be way worse than rib injuries, I think the neck immobilization is gonna be a lot safer than protecting your ribs

I was always under the impression goat was a more premium leather than cow hide because for it's thickness (which is generally thinner) it's just as strong and tough as cow hide.. this is the first I am hearing that cow leather out-does goat. Also, as sort of a dark-horse concept... Klim Mohave gloves are leather construction, have padded knuckles and are surprisingly comfy for the price. I get they are more adv/dual sport but I have a pair of leather gloves, Five Kansas and these don't feel that much less protective.

I have both these helmets. Hands down the Arai Xd-4 is better in EVERY category except I have the photochromatic face shield on the Bell MX-9 Adventure which is a great feature. The aerodynamics on the Bell is terrible! I have to raise my windshield. If you go over 70 mph in the Bell you will need to take off the peak visor or it pulls on your head and will pull when doing head checks. Also, I'm working out some kind of rattling noise in the Bell....

Wrenches and spark plug sockets: you can find good quality brands for next to nothing in dump bins in a pawn shop-- Husky, Crafstman, etc. They don't seem to recognize anything that doesn't say Snap-On or Mac as a quality tool. As far as T-handle functionality, get a good cellulose handle screw driver, and bore a hole through the handle large enough to accommodate the 6" 1/4" rdrive extension. Money saved.
