You ever think maybe the song lyrics are from the point of view of the dream itself? Like the 1st Alice hardly interacted with the dream but knew of its evils so set out to destroy it but was then trapped there, but since the she never really interacted with the dream with imagination it didn’t know how to describe her so in the lyrics it describes her as aggressive and her story being unknown. The 2nd Alice was the next stage to where this Alice probably interacted with the land a little but quickly discovered it sinister intentions, but instead of trying to destroy the dream with his own hands he strived to make awareness of this evil dream known and tried to spread the word (either in the dream or irl) but the dream figured out what he was doing and swiftly took him out, explaining why he was beloved but left for dead. The 3rd Alice being the one who was deeply intertwined with the dream and its fantasy even creating her own kingdom within the dream, I don’t think she was as fortunate to figure out the intentions of the dream or not at least until it was too late and she was to intertwined with the dream to escape (the dream obviously learning from the first two Alice’s and getting better at hiding) but she was too self destructive and the dream would not be able to survive off of her as in the end she destroyed herself and became useless to the dream. But still leaving an impact on the dream, so it can use what she’s done to bring more in. Leading into the 4th Alice, the dream has most definitely learnt from the last Alice’s and knows what it’s doing now but it still has to make sure it finds the perfect Alice. The dream comes so close with these two but (you can choose the reasoning however you want, I see the reasoning going multiple ways that I don’t feel like writing out) In the end the 4th Alice fails to become the true Alice. ending the story so far, idk if maybe the dream continues searching or if all of the Alice’s combined has stopped the dream from luring in victims or if the dream just ran out of energy idk up to you how you see how the story reaches its closer if it has one at all. Thanks for reading this comment tho :p I know it’s long but just came up with the thought after being awhile since I listened to the song, so I thought I would share an interesting way to spin the narrative.
