Aahh back on dry land lol. While I enjoyed your recent seascape paintings I really prefer landscape paintings, This "Old Road" with the dappled lights from the shadows and those trees that create them just make for a very beautiful serene painting. This was a pleasure to watch. Thanks

5:27 those gloves are a bit extreme- lol your going to scare beginners- especially those who believe that oil paint is toxic and they can’t breathe around oil paint - a fallacy- when it’s only linseed and or sunflower oils - that are used for cooking! An acrylic company’s propaganda campaign to sell acrylic paint- Beginners don’t realize that it takes years to become really good using acrylics- like watercolors- A real waste of time- and frustrating for beginners- fooling around with plastic paints that actually have chemicals - in them- that are harmful!! Oil paints are pigment and oil!! Folks Your gloves will deter and have them thinking lol maybe a black rubber gloves- those are really extreme- I wonder if it affects your brushstrokes- cannot use your hand in a free style with those things on- just saying
@windowstoheavenart99414 күн бұрын
Lol I hope that doesn't deter anyone. Actually, I use those gloves because they are tight, comfortable and keep my hands clean from oil paint (which takes a good long scrub to get off my hands). I used to wear latex gloves, but didn't like them at all, so I switched to the ones I have now. Maybe I'll address it in an upcoming video. Thanks for the tip!

Try blocking in the entire composition using burnt umber oils- wipe waves light areas with paper towels or rag- Focusing on the darks and lights- and filling in the shapes- elements and of the scene- Block in thin- and blend - Using a synthetic brush to continue- blending with a bristle 2 inch
@Milania71715 күн бұрын
13:28 this method- is so different than actually painting the ocean using color mixes - and such- the signature brushstrokes are used alla Prima rather than this method- Also your not really mixing colors and such this method when just glazing- and alla prima - the painters signature brushstrokes and ability to see and mix colors is what makes their work stand out- This method does not allow for these above methods- such as brushstrokes- color mixing- mark making- and such- Think this method is good for portrait and still life’s where realism counts-

Love your work. What does a piece like that sell for? May I ask what kind of gloves those are? I have tried latex and nitrite and my hands sweat so profusely that it drips down my arm. I don't think I'm allergic but I wounder if anyone else has the sweat issue while wearing gloves?
@windowstoheavenart994Ай бұрын
Thank you MrArtisticGuy! I want to auction this one, so I'm not quite sure about it's price, but some others I'd put up for around a thousand or so. I used latex too, and actually had the same problem with sweating, so now, in my most recent videos, you'll see me wearing light gloves that I suppose are work or garden gloves.

Beautiful scene. I am painting along with you and wondered how often you wash your brush or change your brush from color to color. Did you do the initial clouds and white clouds with the same brush? Thanks for sharing. I enjoy watching you paint.
@windowstoheavenart994Ай бұрын
Thank you! Hey, that's great! I don't wash my brushes until the painting is done and I'm putting everything away for the day. When I clean the paint off my brush to reload a fresh color, I simply wipe it off on a shop towel. For the clouds, I blocked them in with a slightly larger angle brush, then later when I put the final details on, I used a smaller round brush. Blessings!

So very helpful, thank you. Made notes. Really beautiful work. How long, roughly, do you leave your layers to dry between stages?
@windowstoheavenart994Ай бұрын
I appreciate it! I painted the first half one day, then painted the rest the very next day (roughly 24 hours). It wasn't totally dry, but tacky enough to hold without mixing too much.
@PollyHart01Ай бұрын
I love the painting but to learn, I needed it to be slower so I could see your brush changes / strokes and follow and understand your process. Drying between layers is new to me, was there a technical reason for this or did time necessitate it. Also, did you use medium? Thank you.
@windowstoheavenart994Ай бұрын
Hey Polly, thanks for the comment! I only use Linseed Oil as a medium. I usually paint in limited "sessions" and let my layers dry in between (I do this mainly because when my oil paint is dry, or mostly dry, I can apply pure colors over the top without them mixing into the layer under it). Also, the reason I do some time-lapse videos and others real-time is because I feel there are certain things we learn from each. For instance, seeing a painting created quickly gives you a broad look at my painting strategy and how I work through it whereas seeing it painted slow offers a more intimate look at the actual brushstrokes and details. Sorry for the long comment 😋. Here is a link to one of my more recent seascapes where I go into more of the detailed view--- kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m5tmlNGIvqjXZqM.html
