My wife and I stayed there last summer. It was a great experience then, so I am sure the refurbishment makes it even better. Their breakfasts were incredible!

We had our wedding reception there 25-years ago. My husband and I stayed overnight in a gorgeous room (right across from the grand staircase). Was huge and comfortable. We had the best breakfast I’ve ever had the next morning - porridge made with fresh cream - it was amazing. My husband had the full fry up breakfast experience and loved it. We set out from there for our honeymoon in braemar. Best two weeks of my life.

That sounds lovely. Such a beautiful place for a wedding. Glad to hear you enjoyed the food too. It’s always very good and the staff are so friendly. Hopefully you can stay again. We have a family celebration at the Piersland later in the year. My parents 50 years wedding anniversary. Looking forward to going back.

It's an absolutely fantastic video of an iconic hotel!! This hotel and The Green Park Hotel in Pitlochry are the finest hospitality hotels in Scotland.

@@thescottishtravelcouple I totally agree. Me and my best friend took her mother over the Crossing, as my friend's mum really wanted to see it up close. If you go on a boat trip with the Maid of the Forth, especially to Inchcolm Island, they will sail under all three bridges.

It is a lovely wee distillery there. The staff are lovely as well. It does look like both of you had a good time. You might also like Auchentoshan and the Clydeside Distilleries.

I would recommend visiting Rough Castle. It's out towards Falkirk, and is part of the Antonine Wall.

Bothwell Castle is a really interesting place to visit. It has so much history. It is nice seeing a lot of these places reopening. I'm just waiting for the Argyll's Lodging, in Stirling, to reopen.

Before Covid my senior parents went to Scotland from Canada to sightsee. They stopped in at the Balmoral for tea. They didn’t realize there was a dress code and they were wearing jeans and runners. They asked the desk if there was availability. Instead of informing them there was a dress code they were seated. A waiter then showed up and asked them very loudly 4 times if they had enough money to eat there. My parents were always very tidy and dressed nicely so couldn’t figure out why they were being insulted. The manager did come over and apologize and offered them a free tea because of the scene this waiter made. They didn’t take it as they were so insulted and embarrassed. I can very well afford to stay or eat the Balmoral and refuse to do either. Be prepared if you go.
