Check out this page: www.meynstream.com/5000-kilometers-on-2023-ktm-890-adventure/ . I've added a better explanation in this post. I would also check out the front fork bearing. It is a very common KTM issue that the bearing becomes too loose. I've had that happening both to the current and the previous KTM (1290 Super Adventure S). The front fork bearing should be checked, preferably while bike is on service, and the bearing re-torqued to factory spec.

Hey Tom, so nice to hear from you! Oh yeah I do comment there from time to time. :) Yeah I went back to riding motorcycles in 2015 after >30yrs of absence from it. So likely I was riding at the time. Oh that is a nice bike. Although for bigger folks like myself might require a suspension update. But Itchyboots did some phenomenal adventures on that motorcycle so it goes without saying that it is capable. I've "downgraded" from a KTM 1290 Super Adventure to the 890 Adventure. @@KMeyn Ah that's very cool! My dad and an uncle did the same thing. Gave it up for over 20 years, and are now getting back into it. I hear the 1290s are supposed to be completely beastly, and the 890s a bit more manageable. I think I would've done exactly the same :) I'm always impressed whenever I see any KTM related content, no matter the model, they just take all the abuse people throw at them :p You're right about the CRF's suspension. Even for a novice and lightweight as myself it's undersprung. If I was planning on keeping it longer I would look into upgrading it, but for now I only have space for one bike and I'm dreaming of getting something slightly more capable on the tarmac next year. And yeah I'll have a look!

Thought about the centre stand. And the springs being too slack. But that's all fine on mine. The answer to my issue was given at the end of the video :) Problem solved. I've been rough riding with it several times now, no sound and nothing loose!

I would not be too worried. Don't know much about the 690 but single cylinder bikes like the 690 tends to get beaten pretty hard. You always will hear bad things about almost anything. One hears more about that than the positive. My first KTM was a 2019 1290SAS, prior to current. With that bike I did in excess of 55.000 kilometers in two seasons. Had one issue and it was fixed under warranty (intermittent noise in the starter clutch). But it always did start. All this said we shall see how I fare. Personally I don't make my choices on what other people say or experience. Usage. service and maintenance, lots of variables and factors. :)

@@johnboy3100 I guess it depends on where, when, and as much if not more, how, you ride. Plus what you wear. Have a KTM1290 Super Adventure S. Large KTMs have been known to produce excessive heat. Lots of stories about it. But despite that others continue with word traveling through fire and ice. And you hear little of it. I've been riding on >40C + rush hour traffic with my 1290. but can't say I've been bothered but heat at all. As for the Tuareg, I don't know the circumstances. But my 2hrs with it, on Norwegian roads was not enough to expose anything that even remotely made me concerned re heat.
