Actually Un bout de souffle opens with Jean Seberg selling copies of The New York Herald Tribune on the streets of Paris I mention this because it illustrates how J-LG was not the pure independent film maker he was reputed to be

Was there an episode where the contestants had to identify tunes of Christmas Carols. Including the Gustav Holst version of In The Bleak Midwinter?

Do you have the first episode from Christmas University Challenge 2012?
@user-nb3mq3cg8k2 ай бұрын
I think it was more of theaters and films. I never heard a single linguistic question or any social sciences. It was history, literature, arts, mostly film and theaters and some Science.

I definitely think specialization and heavy research field on your specific study can hinder learning about general knowledge. Surprisingly teens that are voracious reader and learner has more capabilities for general knowledge. Nonetheless that was a very special edition indeed. Tom Scott is from heart ❤

Do you know if there”s an episode of Christmas University Challenge in which the Gustav Holst version of In The Bleak Midwinter plays during the music questions round?

When conferring, why do most teams wisper?
@jaomwtoptd6 ай бұрын
I think there should be a fixed time limit on answering questions. Some teams dither too much.

It is interesting that you didn't give the average age of these players, as you usually do. Just because they are much older than your usual players is no reason to do that.

York achieved a student level result but even they were bloody ignorant about common knowledge. Corn not peas? September Revolution? The Ganges emerging in the Arabian Gulf? Get outta here. But the other lot COMPLETELY CONDEMNED THEMSELVES with the Holy Grail question. Too much ivory tower.

Specialization my dude. Stop this rant. They could have read Encyclopedia Britannica but they are more focused on their specialized field
@MatthewMcVeagh2 ай бұрын
@@user-nb3mq3cg8k I can't really stop a rant I wrote 6 months ago - it's 6 months stopped! I'm afraid this quiz series is not about specialisation, but about more general knowledge on top of the specialist knowledge, and all teams competing in it are going to need a wide spread of knowledge areas.

Clearly (as seen before between other teams) Jeremy seemed to have something against Queen Mary, he kept telling them to hurry up; but for the same amount of time never told Exeter. He has done this before with other teams too. Quite unprofessional behavior.
