Good so far. But no one sits in the middle of the canoe. How about showing how to sit in the seat on the narrow end? Or how to turn the canoe around for tandem paddling? Or when two people are getting into the canoe?

Why choose? carry both... a single blade is more rewarding but when you need the maximum a double will be better. I have used a double to get over a thick patch of Lilley pads and against a tide on a windy afternoon. Options are good!

You could use treated or untreated (then seal) 2"×2"s for the seat framing too, I think, if you don't have a table saw.

This is the trick you’re looking for; Use liquid paraffin lamp oil, 1/3 cup:1lb gulf wax or candle wax and NOT more than 1/3 cup because it will make the wax runny and messy. Forget the round cotton, fill paper ramekins with cedar chips and pour the melted mixture over them and cool in freezer for a half hour. 👍🏼

We do a back packing canoe trip each year here in Maine and this will be my first year bringing my 9 year old son (along with a bunch of his cousins and friends). There’s 8 adults and 10 kiddos going from 9-16 years old. 34 miles, two half days of paddling, just shy of 2 miles of portage and 4 nights of iron sharpening around the campsites and camp fires. Oh I use mine in a canoe, I am moving it to the front, using old jumper cables modified for extension I have to move it more towards the front of my canoe, because of the weight of me and the battery, my canoe became a sail😅

Sports Shooter: You cannot hunt deer with a RPAL, because you require and Authorization to transport from your home to a sport shooting gun range, and no one is granted a back country Permit to hunt deer with an AR15. Government: You don't need a suppressor, use ear protection. Government: We don't want to hunt deer with a 30 round magazine pinned to 5 rounds. Government: Hunting from a vehicle like a helicopter is necessary. Deer hunter: shooting any game from your vehicle is illegal, especially with an AR15, with a suppressor, and a 30 round standard AR15 magazine, that should be pinned to five rounds. Government: we blasted the hell out of those deer, so what if the meat cannot be eaten. Hunter: But you shot the wrong deer.

FWIW in most US states, once you mount a motor (of any kind) on a canoe you are required to register it, and carry all the appropriate/ required gear (paddle, signal device, life jackets/ throwable etc) just like any other "motorboat".. I have 2 canoes now, a 15' Grumman and a 11' Sportspal, both registered for use with motors, and 2 electric (30/40# thrust) and a 1.5hp 2 stroke, motors :) I use a Rubbermaid Action Packer tote to hold all the required stuff, plus a waterproof box for my phone and registration, that I lined the inside top edge with a pool noodle, to make it unsinkable... also doubles as a seat when I want to sit in the middle of my canoe vs the end, as I use a kayak paddle most of the time..

Good video about footwear for Canoe & kayaking. I do a lot of kayaking from may Through November if the weather is still warm. I only kayak the warmer months because I have big & very very Extremely wide feet 🦶 sz15 6E wide ( which is very very extremely wide feet 🦶 ) with very very chubby fat wide toes that are Evenly straight across making my foot very very Extremely wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. My foot outgrow shoes , socks , & boots when I was young & Flip flops 🩴 is the only footwear that will barely and I mean barely fit on my feet 🦶 because my toes are wider than the flip flops 🩴 straps. I can't wear shoes or socks because my toes are Evenly straight across & shoes are made for toes that are at a 45° Degrees angle & when I had shoes on my 4/5 toes will get crushed & hurt my feet & toes & flip-flops 🩴is the only footwear that will Allow my toes to be comfortable & Spread out comfortable. Because of this i have to kayak barefooted 👣 because it not easy at all trying to find a pair of footwear that a size 15 6 E wide in a store. I have 6 boys & they all have very wide feet 🦶 & we all go kayaking , kayak camping , kayak fishing barefooted 👣. Now when we are at camp depending on the camp site we are Either barefooted 👣 or wearing flip flops 🩴. We don't have any problems with things getting Between are toes & are feet 🦶 wearing flip flops 🩴 because we watch were we are going. I have been do this all my life since I was a lil boys so you are talking about 50 years now with no problem at all beside having very very Extremely wide feet 🦶. I was born with very very extremely wide feet 🦶 for a baby & now I am a chubby fat dude not Heavy but i am not Skinny At all. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this video.

Thanks for sharing this information and DIY project. I have actually done something similar years ago with cardboard egg cartons and various items, like dryer lint, pine needles, pencil shavings from a crank pencil sharpener and even pieces of pine cones. Heated up wax and covered all that. I did several test burns to see what was the longest burning fire starter. I am glad I stumbled onto your video here, even if it is 2 yrs old, because I have a whole bag of those makeup remover pads that I was going to also make into fire starters. I see for a longer burn instead of one, use 3 or 4 at a time. I, like you, like DIY projects. I even made a candle mold with 100% pure silicone and corn starch so I can make candles for my UCO candle. My wife likes to melt those scent square wax cubes, and instead of letting her throw those away when it has lost the scent, I save them so I always have some wax. Agree this is the ideal setup! The only two things I'd add: Some of the cheaper barrels and dry bags often compromise on the straps, padding, and backpack element. If you have a ton of portages or long portages, make sure your barrels and dry bags have high quality support. Second, if you can't afford a barrel or dry bag yet but have a good backpacking pack, just line it with a heavy duty garbage bag and voila, cheap waterproof pack.
