it is only those who live in seismic areas who know the horror even of a 6.0 earthquake. Even a 5.0 is frightening. This is one of the most terrifying scenes in Movie HIstory and captures the catastrophic consequences of a quake of that magnitude. San Francisco still sits on a time bomb and like the San Francisans we hope and pray it will never happen.God protect the peoples of the seismic areas of our little planet.

I used to go see the Shipstad and Johnson Ice Follies every year with my Family in the late 50's and early 60's... I was pretty young at the time, born in 1953. We always got complimentary prime seating because my Uncle Frank Acuna was the Men's costume designer. I was so proud my Uncle, he made so many beautiful costumes. He later became Liberace's designer and life long taylor. He was considered the Taylor to the stars until the designers from Italy came to Hollywood and made deals to work for free and stole all his business. His clients included Alfred Hitchcock, Walt Disney, and the biggest stars and producers in Hollywood.

The mental gymnastics required to watch and enjoy this is equal to the physicality of Marika Rökk! Especially knowing that Marika Rökk was pals with Jean Ross, (both Egyptian born!) the inspiration for Sally Bowles and know what side of history each "landed".... Ross solidly anti-fascist and Rökk dancing a very different tune....when they both left for Berlin to get small parts in a film together....boggles the mind...

For 1936, this is an amazing sequence. Brilliantly edited. The movie itself, from what I can remember, having last seen it years ago, was OK-to-pretty-good but it's worth it to get to this sequence.

The best songs are used as propaganda. This was composed before the march on Rome, Erika was composed before the Nazis took power, and Battatoi was used before the Imperial Japanese Army sung it. Regardless of its affiliations, its still music. The verse about Mussolini isnt even in this video.

Songs dont just automatically stop existing when theyre used as propaganda. If you read the video description, this song was first composed 10 years before the march on Rome.
