The 7800X3D is a great choice not just for the usually benchmarked games, but for unoptimized games also. Such as Star Citizen or Gray Zone Warfare. Anything that is CPU heavy and RAM intensive. Insane performance leap over Intel when paired with 6000+ MHz RAM. For Intel 12-14 i7+ Gen to even meet or exceed this CPU, it must be running at its full speed and have at least 8000MHz RAM. Which means running hotter and more expensive RAM that only really recent DDR5 board have XMP support for. It’s also very low power compared to Intel even with PBO. My room doesn’t heat up as much anymore since switching from a 12700K. Never breaks 115-120W. Even was able to go to a smaller single stack cooler.

Please look into Black widow v4 pro, and tenkey switch issues and the ongoing bullshit with Razer customer support and the never ending replacement cycle. Short of it, don't waste your money until they actually fix the issue (not going to happen).

Mine arrived today and I think I'm going to have to send it back. The way it automatically enters a low power mode after 10 seconds of no sound happening means it misses the first half a second of sound when a sound actually starts playing which is frankly an unforgivable feature of such an expensive pair of headphones. Turning off auto sleep in the software does absolutely nothing. If I start listening to a video, I don't want the first half of the first word cut off every single time. Really disappointed.

Why AMD chose to give this chip only PCIe 4.0 and not 5.0 blows my mind. Clearly AMD is purposely leaving room for the upcoming Ryzen 9000 series chips, which also go from 16 TOPS NPU on the 8000 series up to 40 TOPS NPU/IPU/TPU (Ai chip) on the 9000 series. I dont even know why AMD bothered with the 8000 series. I wish I could buy a 9000 series chip right now. Clearly the 780M is a killer iGPU, I absolutely love the 780M in my Beelink SER7 mini PC and Ryzen 7 7840HS. I guess I'm going to buy the Ryzen 7800X3D now since I have a high end RTX card, and I'll sell my Ryzen 7800X3D when the 9000 series comes out. Annoying though because I dont have to have to do all of that lol. The 78003DX with a good GPU still smokes the 8700G with the SAME GPU being tested...meaning the 7800X3D is the better chip if you're going to be using a dedicated video card. I'm disappointed because I still wanted to buy an 8700G and pair it with my RTX, because if my RTX dies, having the 780M is a sick backup iGPU...but in this case, the 8700G will hold you back. Lots of KZfaq benchmark videos between the 7800X3D and the 8700G to prove it. What the heck, AMD?

how long does the battery last with 1000hz polling rate and 800 DPI? i cannot get more than 3 days. is that normal?

Might be normal depending on your usage, but I use mine at 1K and get about a week or more.

Unfortunately, overclocking memory also overclocks the memory controller inside the CPU, this often will cause instability issues.

as long as it does not have problems or really loud coil whine i will get it idc about rgb or the look. as long as it performs will, does it have any disadvantages against other "premium" cards ?

Thanks for the video been looking into this as i am planning on building a secondary system for when i do not want to use my main one for not so demanding games and also i plan on having the system for dual boot as one for Windows and the other for ChimeraOS since i have 2x500gb NVMe's and 2x1tb 2.5" SSDs i would use for storing the games into as well as a 3.5" 2TB HDD that would most likely be formatted as exfat since that format works for both Windows and Linux.

You're looking at about a 25% performance boost. Only worth it if you're actually unhappy with the 4070 Ti.

APU performance is kindova moot point on a desktop IMHO. Laptops and ultraportables yeah, I can see the appeal. But when even the latest and gretest apu does worse than dedicated chips that are pushing a decade old and can be had for next to nothing (the 970 sells for less than 50 bucks online and comfortably outperforms the apu on this) why bother is the question (at least for the APU side, the CPU is still great).

TDP. In an office/desktop environment, low TDP and integrated graphics translates directly to small and quiet. Think about this in a small ITX case with a 280mm AIO cooler. Whisper quiet and out of sight. And then there is straight power cost. My desktop system is using close to 200W and I'm just on youtube. I have a 2200G system built for my wife years ago that uses about 30W for normal desktop use and peaked at 90W running benchmarks. Figure there is at least $100/yr difference in operating cost, and my electricity is only US$0.09/kwh. That GTX 970 would cost a lot more to operate, so you only save money on it if you don't pay your own bills. There are not just lifecycle/operating costs to think of. I am looking one to stick one in an RV. My current 3700X + RX6700XT desktop was efficient in it's day, but sucks too much power for remote use - it would require generator or grid power to run in an RV for very long. A 65w APU system would fit into the space behind the monitor stand and run with a direct DC-DC power supply, so it can runs off the battery bank without the inverter's or regular AC power supply unit's efficiency loss. Setup one of these fixed in the RV, and I not only do I no longer need to pay $$$ for a gaming laptop to game on the road - but this would use even less juice than the laptop. I am looking at off grid solar powered gaming, boondocked in a national forest for a day or two while taking a break from a cross country trip.

@that.schamp you can switch to integrated graphics if you want... also that's not how gpus work. Your power draw is determined by load. A high power gpu when idle or when you are just using it for productivity shouldn't be using much power unless your settings are off.

Upgrade question: My computer main components are MSI MPG X670E Carbon WiFi motherboard, MSI 3060 X12g GPU (Nvidia), 64 GB Kingston Beast DDR5 4800 memory, 850 watt power supply, Ryzen 7 7700 CPU (65w version). This is NOT used for gaming, but used for photo editing, specifically astro photos where 'stacking' is heavily used and the main programs are 'Pixinsight' and 'Affinity Photo' (both CPU intensive). I'm trying to figure out if I would gain anything significant by upgrading to the Ryzen 9 7900 CPU (65w version) and keeping all the other components the same. I have PBO enabled but no other tweaks. Can't find any good answers on the web so I'm asking the 'experts' here. Thanks!

I still use it, handles everything I require. Runs hot like a mofo without some decent cooling but that's as per AMD design for some reason.

3700X was bottlenecking my RX 6700. Now my RX 6700 is bottlenecking my 5800X3D. I basically bought the X3D because I am not planning on building another computer for a while. My board is 4 years old and has plenty of life left in it. I've basically thrown everything out and started over every 3-5 years for the last 20 years. Progress has slowed to the point Moore's law has become obsolete and PCs are lasting longer. I am thankful it has slowed a bit. I can throw a better card into this machine and I might, but for now it's not necessary. I can run this rig another 4 years as is.

This pretty much looked the same for DDR4 when testing different speeds, F1 and Hitman 3 always showed the biggest improvements. Some games are just more affected by memory bandwidth, if anything this should prove that dual channel does give real performance boost. But either way you are better off with 2 sticks. And all small percentages build up to a larger bunch, everything matters.

I have a 500 GB version P5 Plus. Planning to put it in an Acer Aspire 5, i-5. That will make the primary NVME, the secondary SATA drive and the RAM all by Crucial. Plus, it's a Gen 4 drive in a Gen 3 slot. We will see how that goes. Cheers!

Upgraded this week from a 3600 to 5800X3D. Wow what an difference. I recommend anyone with this CPU do some undervolting. It can get you lower temps and higher performance at the same time.

Building a rig for my guitarist at the moment. He wants to do music production and some gaming. He's new to pc at this level (only ever had crappy hand me down laptops etc) so picking up this cpu at $175 from Amazon paired with 32gb RAM and the 6650xt is going to do him justice.

Didn't specifically test for it, but I looked around and it should have a max support for four monitors. Not sure about 2 x 4K, but I've never had any issues running two monitors at various resolutions even on integrated graphics.
