Growing up at my family's land. My sisters all had trees that were our trees. I had a mother and father tree (that's when it is split. Down the middle by damage then keeps growing into 2 parts) I loved that tree, I cried when it fell down.

I planted two wisterias 28 years ago, one beside the patio. It is now a monster, has bent the fencing terribly, and is invading my garden by sending roots all over underground. The other plant is beside de a fence at the back and has made its way up a beautifully cedar tree, strangling branches . I am still trying to remove it, but the base is about a foot wide!! It was the worst choice I have made in purchasing any plant!

Be careful where you plant it. I would put it furthest away from your home.

In Bosnia, people do this all the time and the fact is that everyone has at least one rose in their garden, we call garden 'avlija', such a beautiful word, isn't it? In autumn or early spring, people just stick the cuttings outside in a hole and they add a little natural manure to regular soil and it works every time.

We need hacks for the terrible compost you get these days. Don’t get me wrong, I’m delighted we’re phasing out peat, but what a lottery buying peat free compost is! Too dry a mix, too soggy a mix, too many nutrients, not enough…. I have so much plant pot death these days!!! I’m on the brink of giving up planting up pots entirely!!! Help!! 😩

Thank you so much for guiding us around Highgrove' s garden. I love gardening, especially the English garden due to the natural aesthetics. I'm Brazilian and my future plan is visiting England and the gardens there.

works especially well for growing bio weed. they are closely related and almost have the same chemical make up. the soil under netels also has the perfect PH. you could speed this up using a food processor

Very nice garden. I’d love to see the head gardener Melissa work with Joel Ashton of Wild Your Garden youtube channel, he’s a working expert in wildflower meadows, and champion of traditional U.K. wildflower habitat. I’d like to see Alan celebrate that too. Heritage wild flowers that we consider weeds could be grown and displayed in a new innovative way. I’ve just watched my neighbour pull out a load of red valerian, just when the hummingbird hawk moth is on its way from southern Europe looking forward to a hearty meal ☹️

Missing the wildness and local plants. It is more like a manicured historical arboretum with architectural features thrown in for interest. Sustainability not in my book. It has it's place in garden history though.

I pruned my Victoria plum in summer and it still got silver leaf a few years ago. Planted a climbiing hydrangea to grow up and cover the dying tree. Last year however, one branch produced plums and this year there are a few on a different branch.

WONDERFUL choices!! I’m hopeless at picking the right rose for the right spot but I keep trying. The 24 I have now are surviving but not thriving as much as I’d like but I don’t have the heart to move them because I have such lovely conversations of encouragement with them during the season that I think I’d miss my friends too much if they were to not relocate well! As is, I mourn the 6 I’ve already loss and my neighbors think I’m the crazy garden lady on the corner because I talk to all my plants…have for 42 years! It’s astonishing what one person can create in their lifetime if you get bit by the bug that ignites your passion, right??!! Mine is gardening - I love ALL of it; even the winter months. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy
