A lovely piece. Sounded wonderful. It didn't need a bigger sounding organ.

I didn't think this sound sample would sound so beautiful. How long ago and with what little knowledge I made this little sound sample. I congratulate you on this beautiful performance, and this performance strengthens me in my efforts to preserve these lost sounds by sampling small and unknown instruments and introduce them to the more fortunate - but not happier - part of the world. (Augustine)

It's a wonderful instrument, Augustine, and I'm very happy to be able to play it. Thanks so much for all your efforts.

where can I buy the sheetmusic from this piece?,,..Found al lot of music from Battmann but not this piece.
@thehalf-bakedorganist10 күн бұрын
Hi, I really don't know where I got this. It was just a stray piece of music in my collection, and I have no idea where it came from. I had typeset it some time ago, but I seem to have misplaced that, too. So, I don't have any information about this.
@MrLoknar8 күн бұрын
My previous comment got deleted, maybe because there was an outside link? Anyway, according to Frederic Munoz (another organist on youtube who posted an interpretation of this piece as well), it's from "L'écho des chapelles", volume 2. It can be found on the website of the BNF (National Library of France). You can order a PDF, but they have to make it themselves by scanning the original document, so it's expensive (45 euros for the whole book as I saw). So, if I were you I would write to Frederic Munoz to see if he can send you a scan.

Thanks for your comment. Actually, it makes a big difference in quality of sound depending on how you listen. The Hauptwerk software and the modern sample sets are very good. You can really miss a lot of detail in the organ sounds if you don't have quality earphones or speakers. It makes a world of difference.

Did I detect sone echoes of the Chopin Funeral March?
@thehalf-bakedorganist11 күн бұрын
It certainly is reminiscent of Chopin. But having looked at a lot of funeral pieces, I think they all kind of follow a similar pattern: a march followed by a trio or interlude and back to the march. I quite like them actually. Thanks for listening and commenting.

Thank you for listening. Yes, the sheet music for this and other Bruneau pieces I play are freely available for download on IMSLP or the National Library of France. (I don't recall specifically from which I got this particular piece, however.)

Wow... The Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House and I are both in agreement - your playing was very expressive and atmospheric - perfect score for the haunting that me and Phants plan to do tonight. (Ha Ha, it was a joke, but your musical offering was not a joke - enjoyed this very much!)...

I downloaded this collection from IMSLP.org, I think. I'm not sure if this music is even in print any longer. It would be nice to have brand new, crisp sheet music for this because the online scanned music is not of high quality, unfortunately.

Rinck’s work needs to be more popular. It’s so beautiful, and approachable, and useful for liturgical work. As an organist, I use his music all the time. Flor Peeters is another composer whose work should be more popular.
