If dirt packs in tracks, the tracks get tighter, track wear increases. Worn tracks need to be tighter, or they can come off. For longer track life, check the track tension specification and limit higher speed, especially reverse travel.

One weakness on these( if you get it and running), the front axles are known to break on occasion, but more often the inner axle bearings go out, (keep one handy). Don't over inflate the tires and that will minimize those issues, inflate according to book... Other than that they are a real cutting machine if running right...

Justin I’ve been watching your video series on this tw, I have a tw-15 and after it sits maybe a week I have no brakes. Check fluid and the master cylinder is empty. So I rebuilt the master cylinder, no improvement. Any help as what to check next or replace would be very helpful. If I add fluid and bleed the lines it works maybe a week and then empty again. Really like the ford repair videos. Thanks.
@farm2655 Жыл бұрын
in the axle there are some o-rings that seal the actuating piston it is common for them to leak and give you that problem, as of right now I don’t have a video on this yet

nice going, pulling everything apart & then the engine out. I "like" your crawler engine hoist. I have to work on a( was) locked up Farmall C today. I got the head off, after giving up soaking then I should of used an oak block of wood ( less wood flying around) "I beat on that", all after noon, I remember on an Easter Sunday. What helped is, I jacked up one of the rear tires off the ground, so I could use it as a hand turn flywheel when I finally achieved a little movement by hammering on the pistons. I put the head on with out checking the valves not enough compression. after removing the head a second time then I noticed ( what I should of checked before) they all have to come out so I can check the seats and valve grind angles. If they all look good then the rings are stuck . And I'll bet they are so Today before the days over I'll be unhooking the piston rods cleaning the piston groves and I my as well use my cylinder hone stone and clean up the cylinders while it's apart I might even buy a ball hone

I have a question about transmission fluid on the 8600. I just got a 8600 and was trying to find out if the transmission and hydraulic fluid are both added at the same place in the rear. I take it the dipstick on left side under rear filter is for trans?
@farm2655 Жыл бұрын
yep you are correct dip stick that goes down around the axle is trans / hydraulic, both are added by the top 3 point arms, you do have to watch out for the earlier ones though the trans and rear end can be 2 separate oil compartments
@qualitymovers4573 Жыл бұрын
@@farm2655 so just a universal trans/hydraulic fluid should work?

Hey buddy! I was wondering! I got that 8600 and was watching all the work you were doing. I’m nervous but I need to do some brake work. When I’m going along, haven’t even pressed the brake, all of a sudden I start lugging down and when I clutch it I nearly get thrown off. The left rear is locking up. If I crack the bleeder and release the pressure I can get going again but later will do same thing. No brakes at all on the right, or fluid when I crack open the bleeder. Originally when I would crack that left bleeder I would get rusty fluid but I’ve done it enough now, it has cleared up. Any advice? Thanks! Any other work you do on your tractors I will be watching. I bought this 8600 as a first tractor. Got a new Holland 256 and 273 to go with it if you see where I’m headed.
@farm2655 Жыл бұрын
you might end up taking the axle housing off and going in there but if you had rust in the system I’d start up top and get your master cylinder cleaned up and in perfect shape (I don’t have a video on that) but I do for your axle, the 8600 is almost identical to the tw20 follow them and you will know a lot about your 8600 sorry for the late reply I could have sworn I responded earlier thanks
