Grew up in Antioch and lived there for more than 20 years. Are we ignoring that half the PD was investigated by the FBI and let go causing crime to drastically increase due to a lack of enforcement? or the regular hells angels parties taking place due to them opening a bike shop in town? Guess we are.

The Antioch PD has had a scandal related to racists texting and abuse PLUS fraudulently claiming educational work. I typically don't cover allegations in videos, but a number of cases have gone to trial and more info has been made publicly available since this video was made.

Very good run down of the reasons for the problems. Sadly climate change has very little if anything to do with it. Main line insurance companies have not insured homes in wildfire areas in several years. Business has shifted to the Fair Plan in Wildfire areas. Insurance companies has lost millions of dollars servicing their policyholders. This fact is indisputable.

I appreciate this video since it presents most of the relevant facts without specifying what action to take. I agree with most of the points made in the video. We were victims of a wildfire and our premiums have increased over 200%. We are thankful that we still have insurance. We are very concerned about what may happen to our future insurance coverage.

California, the one party-rule state has ruined everything about living in California.
@RichFlemingRealtor
@RichFlemingRealtor Ай бұрын
Has one party rule ruined states like Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and Texas? Texas has insurance and power grid challenges. Florida has more severe insurance challenges than CA! It also has a condo crisis and a cost of living crisis. Alabama and Mississippi perennially have on of the poorest economies and standards of living. In short, all places have their challenges.

It's full of crime now and homeless and prostitution!!! The demographics tell the story.in 1997 it was one of the lowest crime ratings in the state .now it's garbage.

I'm grateful that you revealed the truth. I purchased my house in 1996 because the BART station had just opened. It's just a mile's walk to the BART and a shopping center is adjacent. It was a new development, my street was so wide and clean. However, it has changed a bit due to the increase in the number of parked cars on the street since the 2007-2008 financial crisis, triggered by the bursting of the United States housing bubble and the devaluation of housing-related securities. I still love living in this city.

As a local, born and raised here, I appreciate the nice things you've said about the town. But we really cannot afford more residents due to a few issues you've mentioned, I'll explain it through the eyes of a local. We've had a surge in residents from Oakland already a few years back, the traffic has gotten much worse mainly because we only have 2 exits leading out of the city, Highway 4 and Kirker Pass. Both of these roads are always packed in the mornings and no matter how nice the city is there's just no reasonable employment in the city and you will need to use these roads to work. For anybody watching this video and considering moving here, keep in mind you will be dealing with this traffic every day. In regards to crime, it has increased due to that surge in residents from the inner cities like Oakland, to the point where the sister city Antioch which is only 10 minutes from Pittsburg has seen a collapse in its Police department, resulting in homelessness and even more unreported crimes. Basically, you'd be doing us a favor if you did not move here, in order to help curve the increased congestion, crime, and rising housing prices that most locals simply cannot afford now. The city itself cannot develop fast enough, it cannot police efficient enough, and people cannot catch up to the inflation of everything including housing.

I grew up in Vacaville when it was one high school, select inmates umpired the little league baseball games at Keating Park next to the medical facility until some parents later on freaked out and stopped it, and there was a few iconic restaurants now gone. The town isn’t the same, though still nice. The Nut Tree going away was the start of the change I think.

Yeah as a resident here. The cost of living is becoming too high for us real residents. The implants can go back to the greater bay area. Living in Apts my rent has gone up almost 1000 in 3 yrs bc the fair market value slots this nonsense. It's a beautiful place to live. But they are doing all this for show without addressing the ongoing issues of the traffic on railroad do to the all new developments but lack of real solutions for commuting. We have the highsch9ol traffic the stupid bart traffic, and now they want to build a hotel and another Starbucks? The streets and traffic lights can't handle all the congestion in the morning it's just as bad on harbor st too. Don't. Get me wrong it's nice downtown now to live but stop with the bc market value. We are not sf my rent should not be 2500+ for a apt here fr
@PRNOBTCH
@PRNOBTCH Ай бұрын
And just 3 yrs ago you could buy a house for under 400k. It's still the same place to live but more shops, and bullshit things like bart traffic/high school traffic/ and the implant traffic that baught houses that cost way to much for the worth .and a bart that is only a commuter train. Its great to get to antioch but to get to baypoint bart. It stops at a waypoint before u can get on the bart train to the city or oak( yellow line) I'm really tired of california and the bay in general. For the price we have no grocery store near our area in downtown. Don't even throw the rip of Cardenas in that convo. Be real yes we got got nearby markets. But it's bullshit the price to live in a town where busses still run once a hr if you want to go further than the effing collage in town. On the weekend we downtown now have ro catch 2 busses if we want to go further than lmc, and no busses go to winco in pittsburg. Ohh foods co has all busses pass them. But they suck. Why on god green earth have they not figured out a bus rout to winco in pittsburg. Is beyond me. Winco has been there since early 2000s, You have to understand. It's nice to have more things to see and explore. But bottom line if your gonna start hiking up rent to the locals and not focus on the obvious, Then your going to have clap backs pf ppl who know what it's like day to day to live here and have had no choice but to deal with the rent increases, and bullshit fair market value of what they think is fair cost of living.

Have a family member living in San Leandro for the past few years and they like it. They have a solid great education from growing up in New England and a master's degree and is a teacher so rent is affordable for them. Have never heard any good things about Oakland though, lots of homelessness and crime! Are all the beaches in S.L rocky, no sand? Also, heard they have a cherry festival every year, sounds fun! I've noticed most Oakland Residents are in total denial about how bad Oakland really has become. The city has been destroyed by reckless progressive politicians. The city has hardly any restaurants most have closed, not even one steakhouse in the entire city. Downtown and Jack London Square are dangerous and absolutely filthy with homeless encampments, drug addicts and graffiti everywhere. Most of the city looks like a 3rd World Country.

Hey! You started your video right down the street from my job!! Richmond def isnt as bad as people think. Yeah, there are rough areas, and there are gang bangers, but they try to keep it to insiders only. I can respect that. Another fun fact is that richmond had the first sawmill in the SF bay area, built by augustus macdonald, who also bought the barrett ranch, which was divided up into 500 parcels to be used for city commerce. Im gonna reach out by email, as i want to buy a house in richmond. Great video! Love to see Richmond being shown the love it deserves!

Finished watching. Firstly WONDERFUL video. Really enjoyed watching this. Seems you included a lot of good information and pretty much accurately summed up most of the basics. There are a few things that would have been nice see. I might go over those now. Firstly would be fun to visit the various neighborhoods. Down town alone doesn't fully represent the full city. Specifically visiting Highlands Ranch would have been awesome to showcase the nicest (or one of the nicest) neighborhoods in Pittsburg. Visiting the pier in Riverview park would have been good. It's so beautiful there. I think it's awesome that there is the JSX airport up the road on 4 (< 10min drive). Pittsburg has some really great annual festivals (seafood fest etc). It's also worth a mention that there is quick access over Kirker that leads right into Toyota Pavilion (< 10 min drive) which hosts lots of incredible shows. (also the rest of beautiful Clayton right over the hill). I know these videos are not easy to make and there isn't always time to mention everything but I wanted to supplement a few of these things for anyone who is interested in Pittsburg and visits the comment section. Best housing deal in the Bay Area! Great video!! Thanks for posting :)
