It's a fair point, but it's the way these baskets spit out. It's not even spit out, the chain design is effectively working to remove the disc, not keep it in. But you're right, every basket design leaks some putts, it's just a matter of knowing how to putt in a way that sticks, and for some models you need to tweak your stroke. I think the Prodigy baskets favor a harder putt - you didn't see Gannon struggle with these, but Isaac has a softer putt that doesn't seem to work with these baskets. Usually it would be the other way around, with touch putt being touted as the cure for spit-outs...

If you aim in the middle it has the most chances to go in if wind catches.

I get aiming small, but when you have to routinely make edge-of-circle to be competitive, it's a lot harder to shrink the actual window for possible makes. After all, if it's too low, there's a 0% chance a putt makes it. Too high and you still have a chance that might be higher than 50%. Even on "bad" baskets, you get fewer than 2 spit-outs a round whereas missing low has a slight benefit from reduced rollaway chances or 3-putts from sailing over the top. It's why the Calvin-miss hurts, but I get it. It really depends on your style of putt and the situation, to be honest.

There aren't that many ways of making them different unless you want to get rid of the chains and the chains have become too iconic to leave behind. I think I would almost quit playing if they switched from chains to something that doesn't sound so satisfying.

I can't tell if you are suggesting a solution or identifying the problem. The problem is that cross chains that are holding the disc up and rolling it back to the rim of the basket where it all too often flips out of the basket.

@chucksherron suggesting using fewer chains on the outside ring, with the cross pattern chains on the inside. The problem with spit-outs is the outside chains pushing the disc out. Those inner cross pattern chains should filter the disc into the basket by not allowing it through the core of the chains. However, the outside chains will push the disc out once the inner chains stop the disc. Another solution could be to fix the lower ring to the center post, but higher so the chains force the disc down as opposed to out.

@@GREENneonDRIVER Isaac Robinson's spit outs in this video are from the cross chains catching underneath the disc and pushing it back to the rim of the basket. Watch it again closely.

@@SJH22 not too many, simply a poor configuration. The cross chains create a web that pushes back a lot harder. Instead of two vertical chains that can easily move off to the side, you have to move the whole web of chains, which means that if you push it inward, there’s a lot more resistance coming back. Uli even said he pushed his putter into the pole to test it, let it go, and the chains shot the disc out.
