Brilliant. Glad I found this vid. I’m reading Lovely She Goes by William Mitford about arctic-trawling aboard Arctic Fox out of Grimsby. I’ve read this at least 3 times and watching this vid really places you aboard. If I was close I would love to polish the brass unfortunately I live in Australia. Cheers

My dad was on a Grimsby trawler off Iceland when those two yorkie trawlers went down in 1955, he was in the wheelhouse at the time and they were heading for shelter themselves. I can remember him telling about hearing them say they were going over.

This was fascinating! I've always wondered how spinning worked, I had no Idea beyond fairy tales what a spindle was, and I didn't realise they did it without a spinning wheel during this time period. Really really interesting. I love to see how the every day stuff was done, much more interesting to me than kings and battles and all the big stuff.
