It has some power as you could see the edge cleaning at the end get something that was under the board

It’s an impressively powerful robot vacuum cleaner. It’s shocking how little I collect when I go over all of my flooring with my Gen5 or Ball Animal3 after a week or two.

This Dyson would be totally useless, I'd be cleaning the roller from Dog hair and my long hair. Having to empty it manually every 5 minutes. The only good Dyson was their first Animal vac the purple one, the rest were garbage especially the ball.

I don't agree with the decision to use a painted shell over dyed plastic. It's going to look bad after several months of wear and tear from daily use. They should have just gone with their gray/silver plastic.

I've had this vacuum since Christmas and it works very well. I was wondering if it's safe to use the motorhead on hardwood floors? Due to having a large space, it takes forever to do hardwoods with the smaller fluffy head tool. I'm coming from a V11 Torque Drive where I'd use that head on rugs and floors without issues. The larger motorhead sounds like it's beating the hell out of the floors so I'm a little hesitant to use it on anything aside from my rugs. Visually, I can't see a difference between the V11 and Outsize heads aside from the size.

It’s definitely safe for hard floors. However, if the cleaner head sounds harsh and aggressive on hard floors, the brush-bar is most likely out of balance. Try removing the brush-bar barrel, clear out all dust and debris around the drive unit and inside the barrel, and reinstall it (making sure that the end cap is properly screwed onto the cleaner head). This should quiet down the noisy Motorbar on hard floors.

Completely outdated. The chinese are light years ahead of Dyson in that department. NOBODY should buy this, especially for the high price What is critical about these appliances isn't necessarily the suction power, it's the ease of use and intelligence of the software. After all, they're designed to make our lives easier.

Dyson is known for being more expensive, i understand that people that don't have floors might want to buy this vacuum in other countries.

They cannot afford to relinquish this expanding segment. With that in mind, Dyson should strongly consider recruiting talent from some of their Asian competitors or former engineers from the now-defunct Neato.

I don't get this. A cordless vacuum is nice for all the spots the robovac can't reach, but I only use the floor roller head under my couch once in a while. Manually vacuuming is passé.

I'd argue that cordless vacuums retain their relevance in homes with thick pile carpets. Despite the advancements in robot vacuums, they still can't match the deep cleaning capability of traditional cordless or upright models. However, this may be a moot point, as modern households increasingly opt for hard flooring and lower pile carpets, where robot vacuums excel. I think you and I would agree that, with the rapid progress in robotics and AI, cordless floor vacuums will become irrelevant much sooner than later, as traditional corded vacuums have recently.

Great review. I love the vacuum, but the rubber gasket is already falling apart and I’ve only had this since December. I’ve been waiting months for them to get the part back in stock. I also Had an issue with the pet hair tool where the little piece of Velcro underneath started to come up. They replaced that, but I don’t want to exchange the vacuum just want a replacement part and the long delay has not left a good impression for me.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're having with the Gen5 Detect. In similar situations with my V15 Detect, I received a replacement machine when a specific part was out of stock. Frankly, if they can't fix a defect or replace a part in a timely manner, I wouldn't hesitate to request a replacement machine under warranty (especially since you've already been waiting months for the part you need). You've made a substantial investment in your Gen5 Detect. If Dyson is unable to maintain adequate parts inventory to support their loyal customers, they should be striving to go above and beyond to guarantee customer satisfaction.

Damn Dyson keeps on hitting and missing. No mopping. D-shaped (harder to move around). Too expensive. Features you don’t need and won’t use (screen). ‘Cyclone’ tech, who needs that? 360 cam, needs light to move around. LOL. Stop making a robot plz.

Can you charge this via a 12v car power
@DysonLifestyleTech
@DysonLifestyleTech Ай бұрын
Unfortunately, no. The charger (Model: 348783-02) is rated at 17.3 volts. While Dyson has produced car chargers for some of their older cordless machines, they currently do not offer one for the Humdinger.

Had a V11, now Gen5, prefer the trigger button on the V11 rather than the stop start of the Gen5, example if moving something have to use both hands on the vacuum to stop it, and if you keep the motor running obviously using more battery power without it doing anything.
@DysonLifestyleTech

You make some valid points about the trigger mechanism. However, years of customers complaining that the trigger caused fatigue convinced them to move away from it.

Thanks for this clear review, I’ll stick to my V15 for now, not worth upgrading to the Gen5. Still the emptying of the dust wastebin is annoying, sticky dust behind the shroud for a $900,00 hoover. Cleaning the side rollers and small rubber wheels on the fluffy piece from tangled hairs isnt clever designed as well😅 Cleaning should be more straight forward in this price class imo. But still love the Dyson (V15) durability, wireless, carpet end piece and laser tbh😊

Before getting my Gen5Detect, I owned a V15, and it was indeed a fantastic machine! The introduction of laser technology was undeniably a game changer. Based on recent patent filings, Dyson seems poised to tackle issues related to hair entanglement around the shroud while enhancing their cleaner heads with advanced anti-tangle technology-the forthcoming years at Dyson promise to be intriguing.

Have you tried putting the omni glide's attachments onto the humdinger? does it work?
@DysonLifestyleTech

Yes, attachments designed for the Omni-Glide, Humdinger, and Micro 1.5kg are cross compatible. In fact, the Hair Screw tool you see attached to the Omni-Glide in the video was included with my Humdinger.

Where can you buy the hair screw tool? I don’t see it on the website to fit a Omni. Is there a part number?
@DysonLifestyleTech
@DysonLifestyleTech 2 ай бұрын
I looked into this, and it appears that the Hair Screw tool for the Humdinger and Omni-Glide is not yet on sale as a stand-alone accessory. I could not locate a part number for the Hair Screw tool fitted for the Humdinger/Omni-Glide/Micro 1.5kg. However, it should be available soon, as it was recently included with the relaunched Humdinger.

In a way…. If you really wanted to turn the Humdinger into a Micro 1.5kg, all you have to do is buy the aluminum wand and Slim Fluffy cleaner head from eBay, and voila, you have yourself a Micro! Of course, the actual Micro 1.5 kg most likely won’t be coming back to the US/North American market. It didn’t sell too well during its brief time on sale here. After all, it, along with the Humdinger and Omni-glide, was designed more for Asian markets in mind.
