So beautiful! How are you keeping the deer out of your garden? I live in a beautiful place like yours, and I don't want to put up a fence

@ 11:59 I looked away to do something can I hear the music change. It wasn't until at least a full minute in that I turned around and I see that it was not a commercial for the Olympics 🤣🤣

It's so refreshing to see what we've also chosen to do: live simply and ENJOY it. The "I don't have time" is such a cop out. We make time to do what we want to do. Thank you for sharing☺️

@ 2:18 I remember my record player I left behind when I married in '91. Mum found it in a thrift store when I was about 5 (mid '70s). My parents had saved and purchased a 1932 sweet Cape Cod fixer upper on Long Island. My dad did everything from bricking up the fireplace to install our workhorse of a wood stove to paneling to installing baseboards in the basement to installing gutters himself. Mum had her record player and I just remember how I wished I had one. Then one day we went to some thrift shop and there it was! Quite dusty, but it worked! That little gem took me from mid '70s through to '91. Fast forward and my second soldier gifted me with another one along with a Nat King Cole and Vince Guaraldi Trio Charlie Brown Christmas album! The GREEN one!! Best memories EVER!

My father refurbished houses as a side job after his shifts on the railroad. He also work for a tree cutting family which helped us keep our wood burning stove stopped for the 20th that I lived in our 1938 Cape Cod fixer upper on Long Island in the 70s through the 90s. When Alzheimer's debilitated him in 2017, it was such an honor for me to put on his tool belt and build him a portable ramp (just about 3' long w a lip to get his wheelchair up and out) to get his wheelchair from his bed out the door & into the sun. Everything was still around the garage. The only thing I bought new was a piece of indoor outdoor carpet to cover the rough edges. He was still somewhat coherent, and he asked me how I made the handles. I told him I looped the telephone wire that he had about 500 ft of in this huge ball in the corner. I used about 20 feet and looped it through drilled holes & put pipe covered on to cushion them. He said, "see! I told you that would come in handy someday!" We had the best laugh over that 🤣

When hurricane Irma blew out a 10' section of the 40-year-old wooden fence between my neighbor and myself, I put the section back up plank by plank using culled lumber. Then I decided to do the entire fence line. I drilled in each screw, leveled each plank, and made sure they were all even. He did not offer to help or reimburse. We are on half acre lots. It was about 50-60 ft. It took me about 4 weeks doing about 4 ft each evening after work. Plus I drilled in screws rather than hammered. I had leftover planks so I created some portable shelving for my desk in a corner office to work on transcripts. I LOVE my shelves. P.S. the neighbor brought in some people to replace the fence & none of the wood was treated so it's starting to split already and most of the planks were put in with a nail gun and they missed most of the supporting beams. So they're pretty much splitting, bowing, & shrinking and falling down...but mine held for 8 years😕 Good fences make good neighbors...unless the fence is shoddy ..

When I was going through a very volatile time, the last Thanksgiving before my Exodus, I took little smidgens and leftovers of a Thanksgiving meal preparation: the sweet potato that didn't quite make it into the dish, the lone speckled banana on the verge of being tossed, the lost Apple at the back of the fridge... Basically the orphans of the bunch. Anyway I baked & mashed the yam, chopped & sauteed the apple in lemon juice and mixed the banana in & created a filling. If there is a leftover pumpkin ready to be shelled, I would steam it out in the oven and roast the seeds with a little bit of cayenne and sometimes garlic for a snappy snack. I use a very basic banana bread recipe but cut the fillings in at about a cup per flour/brown sugar/baking powder mix. I put them in mini loaf pans so that I can give at least a dozen out. They were a hit from the start. 11 yrs later and I still get requests for them. Sometimes the best things come from the most challenging of experiences 🥰 I'm glad I found your channel ☺️

A tip I read in an old cookbook for blind baking: put another pie plate directly over top of the pie crust and bake. I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s so much easier than using beans!

The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. (Psalms 145:17-20) And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: (Acts 17:30) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:5)

Love From Scratch Freezer Meals so we can skip the preservatives & junk they put in processed foods. I've made freezer burritos for quite a while and once they're rolled up I just placed them all on a cookie sheet freeze them, then add them all in a freezer bag. Saves on foil & extra cost. Thx again for the great Freezer Meal ideas ❤
