the fluid level on all those old tractors will all ways be mid block ,most fill just below mid block ,due to the fact all hydro;fluid and gear oil expands the hotter it gets ,but most oil level indicators have a low full mark ,if not lets say its rubbed off then after a complete service fill to exact amount of fluid in the service manual then create you own mark on the oil level indicator (aka) dip stick .

the 2 flat head screw drivers ,people end up using after they loosen the oil pan to pry down on the oil pan ,to get the timing cover back on , ends up leaking ,i just find tight fitting round punches ,or round pin removers they fit snug into the timing bolt holes for the timing cover ,and it dont hurt the threads ,you can just use those to apply the down pressure to get it lined back up to seat the timing cover ,and not the front oil pan u seal out and cause the pan to leak ,but i understand how the way i worded it made it sound ,that is my fault .

i have seen so many people cause a oil pan to leak ,when this can be done without disturbing the oil pan ,

Ebay and tractor shows .you'll find in rural areas once a year they have like a fall festival tractor show. Best place to find parts .every now and they you will get lucky on Craig's list .and estate auctions

Stock that truck was left sit for 30 years with less than 20 k miles on it . I just added a better cam and a better fuel system .

refer to the owner manual ,first id determine how the reservoir works , if you have split units then one unit may have a check plug and drain plug in those cases each unit is serviced separately if no dip stick aka oil level indicator then it would have a check plug ,all ways refer to you owners manual ,you can access and print the org, service manual via pdf . then print that .very helpful

they are the same oil. probably to late to help you tho. Some call it tractor fluid. Some call it Trans Hydraulic Fluid. Some call IT THF.

yes in most all classic /vintage tractors just about anything would work ,plain ole hydro/fluid now this new age crap is all a racket ,the most dependable and strong tractors were made during and before war time from usa steel ........ built by legends

Does your cap.have that little spot that a pin once set in to act as a dipstick

About half way or just a bit past half but if your didn't have a dip stick then you have a site plug you remove and fill it until is starts coming out .but check your cap that you fill and see if it don't look like it once had a dipstick pap said they would come out and fall into the lower

@@grizzwald1979 I just had some work done on it, had the seals changed out (started leaking like a sieve) and they had to replace the clutch because it was oil soaked but I checked it yesterday and the trans oil level is about 2-3 inches deep and I'm wondering if they didn't put enough oil back in it?

It's possible but the cap on your fill port just left to the shifter if you remove that is their a hole in the center like it had a pin in it ?
