Those ornaments are very pretty, but they must weigh a couple of pounds each with all of those pins.

I took a chicken kayenne and made a circle of fabric and stuffed it and put it in the chicken can and made a pin cushion and I put all my pins. I loaded up with pen so it's easier to get to the pens. Because I run up stabbing my fingers and stuff. And I can't do that. It's not good for you to do that. You can get metal poison from that get infected fingers. So yeah, make a pin cushion and you can get to your pins. A lot quicker and a lot better without sticking yourself

If you are new to ornament quilting, I highly recommend completing a regular size ornament before making a mini. The minis use less material, are less expensive, and take less time to make, but they can be challenging with such small materials. So try out the regular size ball first, and then fall in love with minis! Happy Crafting! :)

What size are the rectangles?
@PeaceLoveAndOrnaments7 ай бұрын
The size depends on what size ball you use and whether you are using fabric or ribbon. I use 2.5" balls, because I like my ornaments just a little smaller than the traditional 3" ones. Fabric is 2.5"x1.5". Ribbon is usually 2.5"x1.25". But the size of the pieces and the distance between the layers will depend on the material and the size of the ball.

I never dare to use pins in ornaments because a friend's dog ate one with pins... and he had so many pins lodged into his stomach! He had surgery to remove them, but it was a bit deal!! They are beautiful though, I wonder if a hot glue gun could be used instead of pins?
@PeaceLoveAndOrnaments7 ай бұрын
That's terrible. I do have a disclaimer on my pdf directions and kits that warns customers that they are made with many pins and are not dog or toddler toys. I'm sure you could craft something sort of similar using glue, but it would be very difficult to make this kind of pattern.

You said "the ball that comes in the kit"..... what " kit" are you referring to?? This video came up in my suggestions list on YT. Im a little confused....lol 🤔😂

I think what everyone is asking is how wide is the ribbon, not the size of the piece.
@PeaceLoveAndOrnaments8 ай бұрын
I often use 2.5" wide ribbon and cut it in half so it's 1.25". But I've used 1.5" and just sliced a 1/4" off or 3" wide and cut accordingly. It really doesn't matter what size you start with, as long as it's at least 1.25" wide and you get the final piece cut to the size you need for whatever size ball you're using.

Thank you. This information is very helpful. I love the color scheme, not the usual red and green. Not that there is anything wrong with the traditional colors. This white and blue gives it a fresh air. Love what you've done. It's beautiful!@@PeaceLoveAndOrnaments

You never tell us what size the ribbon is how we're supposed to know I'm not buying your kit. I just wanted to know how to do it. What size is your ribbon to make the pattern? I can see you're doing the pattern. And I can copy that but I don't know what size the ribbon is

The videos are here to supplement the pdf directions I include with the kits, in case someone needs to see it. I don't give the size because the size depends on what size ball you use and whether you are using fabric or ribbon. I use 2.5" balls, because I like my ornaments just a little smaller than the traditional 3" ones. Fabric is 2.5"x1.5. Ribbon is usually 2.5"x1.25". But the size of the pieces and the distance between the layers will differ depending on the size of the ball. If/when I make another video I'll be sure to explain that. Thanks for the feedback.

You need to tell the size of the fabric and ribbon and how many pieces of each are needed. 😊
