I currently have 13 fans installed, with 12 of them connected to the Corsair Commander Core XT and one exhaust fan at the rear. However, when I use this program, it only shows the rear fan and my graphics card fans. Am I doing something wrong to where I don't see the rest of my fans?

Nothing you have done is wrong as such, just that fan control doesn't have native support for corsair link, I have never used corsair iCUE so I can't guarantee anything but github.com/EvanMulawski/FanControl.CorsairLink this plugin does state it is compatible with the Commander Core XT. There is a segment in the video on how to install plugins if you get stuck, also from looking at the product it has a USB2.0 motherboard header connection that would have to be connected up in order for it to work but I am going to assume you already have that connected.

thanks for such a detailed vid! was really confused about the framerate limiter mode, also would decreasing refresh period decrease latency?
@onslaugh7pc
@onslaugh7pc 12 күн бұрын
I am going to answer two ways because of the way you worded refresh period, if by refresh period you mean the time between frames ie: frametime then yes it will decrease latency. If you mean the actual framerate or refresh rate of your display being lower then no that will increase latency. The higher your FPS the lower the latency. In competitive games you want to run the FPS as high as possible even if it exceeds the refresh rate of the monitor the benefit being reduced latency, which by the sounds of it you were already getting the idea. 1000/FPS = frametime in milliseconds which will be your minimum latency. ie: 1000/60fps = 16.67ms 1000/300fps = 3.33ms etc.

@@aliasgheramin1078 All good I had a feeling that is what you meant, having a GPU bottleneck is easier to remedy than a CPU bottleneck, lowering the graphical settings and resolution will take load off the GPU unless you are already running at the lowest settings.

Absolutely beautiful manual. Thank you. I kinda figured out myself before but to be sure I wanted to go through this video as well. Really useful, man. My i9900k spikes up for a second to 60 degrees so my fans sped up and I hated it - happens when seitching between raw files in Lightroom. So I smoothened the curves, set up some basic speeds for aio and intake/exhaust fans. I am super happy with my super silent pc. I can work without any noise :) Next step is to put a copper plate onto my gpu to avoid hotspots. Cant wait :)

Question/Concern As for the ROG RYUO 2 AIO coolers compatibility, When only using Githubs Fanctrl, I can only control the small 300-2900 rpm fan that spins inside the mount that sits on the cpu. As for the liquid and pump, that only seems the kick on and flow when just using Armory Crates APP, or also in tandem with githubs fan control....Goal here is to move on from Armory Crates bogware and slow gui, while just using the github fanctrl for the pump/gpu/casefans.... then just utilize rgbware for the mouse and keys....Easier said then done...who knows. Solutions lmk?
@onslaugh7pc
@onslaugh7pc Ай бұрын
I had a look at the manual for that AIO and it uses its own fan controller which looks like it pulls information about your system via the internal USB port on your M/B, if you want to control the pump and fans you would need to wire them to your motherboard headers and not the fan controller included, same with the RGB. You would still need the app to run the screen on it however. (well I suspect I have never used this AIO just going off the quick install guide I found on ASUS' website) I understand the war with all the bloatware though, good luck.

@@onslaugh7pc ...currently using that 4pin/3pin splitter from the AIO mount, but instead I take the 4pin from the fractal case fan hub and plug that into that AIO's 4pin/3pin splitter. This allows me to run those two stock Asus 120 cooler fans, and a separate 120...and that runs on Armorys fancontrol, all while circulating the liquid, which I can physically hear. Then when in tandem with githubs fanctrl, the other 5 case fans which are plugged into the mobo 4pins directly. All 5 case fans & GPU fans are shown on github fanctrl, as well as the small 300-2900rpm AIO 4pin mount fan.... I just matched the same graph in armory over to fanctrl for the AIO mini fan. Set the cases fans/GPU graphs, mixes, calibration n all that. Like you said with it having its own controller, this conflicts with operation imo, hence the product really only being made the work with armory software or limited too. Appreciate the info, hopefully fan control software as a whole gets better, and Asus emptys that crate some!

If you get tagged don't panic heal just focus on dodging and wait for an opener to get your heal off. Good luck and the real boss is that knight in the dark room in the next area lmao.

Once you close the program (make sure it isn't running in task manager) it will default back to whatever is set in BIOS. As for verifying it depends on how its setup in BIOS but you could max out all the fans in Fan Control then exit out and see if the fan speeds return back to normal. Otherwise you would need to look at how the fan curve is set in BIOS and keep an eye on temps and see if the fans are following the curve set in BIOS.

Hi thanks so much for the indepth guide ! I recently built a PC with pieces I found here and there, my motherboard is an ASUS x470 and I have 6 fans (all 4pins) + GPU fan. Two case fans (fractal) on the front / two on top, one in the back and one on the CPU (all 4 are bequiet). In the BIOS i see all 6 (optionnal CPU + Waterpump), but in Qfans i see only 4 fans (CPU, CHA1/2/3 FAN). In FanControl, I have 7 readings in the speed section but only 6 controls. I can control the GPU fan easily but all the others dont seem to respond to the manual control. The 4 fans in Qfan have been switched to PW mode. I think there's something wrong with how I've paired them to the motherboard but I'm a begginer and don't know much about all this. Would you be able to tell me where I might have done things wrong ?
@onslaugh7pc
@onslaugh7pc 2 ай бұрын
You haven't done anything wrong at all, on the majority of motherboards the OPT header is not a separate channel, ie CPU and CPU_OPT are the same control they aren't individually addressable, it would be the same if you were using a splitter or hub to connect 2 or more fans to the same header.
@thomasgesbert9758
@thomasgesbert9758 2 ай бұрын
@@onslaugh7pc Ok I think I understand what you mean. I didn't even know you could split one channel for two fans ahaha. It's good knowing I can use a splitter to regulate two fans at the same time. It will make it a lot easier for cable managment too ! But why is it that I see only 4 fans on the Qfan interface. Does it mean that the water / air pump cannot be regulated and are always at maximum speed ? Thank you for answering btw, you've been really helpful getting a hang of this whole new thing

So you are saying your pc overheats only when its shutting down? When fan control is closed the fans should revert back to BIOS control. I would need more information to be able to help you. Tops video. Thank you. I have just installed a new rear exhaust fan advertised as 200-1800rpm, however in Fan Control if I select anything under around 400rpm (about 20%) it stops spinning and goes to 0rpm. But when I calibrated it (in Fan Control), it started working from like 1% and registers the rpms. Any suggestions?
@onslaugh7pc
@onslaugh7pc 4 ай бұрын
Double check you have Start %, Stop % and Minimum % set to 0%, but it sounds like you do. It is most likely that manufacturer RPM ranges assume perfect 12v input and no resistance to overcome and even then they usually have a 10% tolerance margin. But in the real world you will have some resistance to overcome and you may have multiple fans running off the same header/hub or extension wires etc, that will cause some voltage drop and all these factors will impact the fans minimum and maximum rpm values. Ie the greater the air flow restriction and the lower the voltage the higher the rpm the fan will stall (stop spinning) at. TLDR 400rpm is mostly likely the minimum RPM your fan will spin at. I wouldn't be too concerned 400 rpm should be pretty inaudible. If you need it to be quieter just let it stop.

Discovered yesterday. The program is absolutely top. I have 2x140 mm Noctua at the front (Y + Low Noise Adapter (voltage is reduced), both on one PWM connection). Unfortunately, Fan Control can't handle this, the Noctuas stop completely at speeds below 50%. I'll probably have to unscrew the computer
@onslaugh7pc
@onslaugh7pc 4 ай бұрын
You can change the minimum % to 50 so that the fans don't stop, or remove the low noise adapter that will allow you drop below 50% without the fans stopping. Having the fans stop isn't always a bad thing I like to chose fans that stop below a certain pwm signal so that I have the option for them to stop spinning below a set temp, this reduces noise and dust build up when you are just idling.

@@onslaugh7pc Thanks for your answer. A BQ Shadow Wing 140 mm runs on the back, fan control adheres exactly to the BQ specifications: 50% speed = 450 rpm and can go down to 30%. For the Noctuas (NF-A14 PWM) at the front I use 2 xNA-SRC7 (low noise from 1500 rpm becomes 1000 rpm): 50% speed = 650 rpm with fan control; below 50% speed massive problems (fan speed fluctuates or they stop completely. Guess: The NA-SRC7 are the problem + have to go.
