My husband said he was walking around our block here and literally was gone for nearly 3 hours. A Helocopter located him in the national forest. He was returned by a police officer. It was terrible thing to try and find him. I am still not over the trauma of it. He was on seroquel which made him hyper manic.

This will be the third regional hospital I will have been to in the valley Yup…I’m THAT old!😂 What a wonderful new facility we will have AND new cop shop AND new highschool! Remember the old OLD cop shop that used to be where Duncan Auto Parts (B-B) is… I have spent the odd ‘occasion’ once there in 1974…🤣

That’s when they go to the nursing home. people shorten their own lives, taking care of partners or parents like that. Nursing homes with dementia units are equipped to take care of those people then you can go visit them.

Try to tell my dad that. He refuses to go to the hospital because he knows they are going to tell him he needs to go into a nursing home. I been taking care of him for years.. we are now at the point where he can get very very confused, doesn’t leave his chair..hoping to get a hospital bed because he slides out of his chair. 4x the paramedics had to come. They are starting to no be so nice. He has a catheter.cant raise his arms and can barely hold a glass of water. All he does is threaten to sue me if I make him go into one. I’m 53, very bad back,11 year heart attack survivor, and just Saturday,it took me a half an hour to wake him up as he slept til after 1 pm..30 minutes. 30 minutes of terror for me.i am exhausted. He wakes me through the night just demanding or needing. I can’t do this anymore.😢 I’ve lost my complete identity. I also have an autistic child. I have 0 friends..no lie. I love my father beyond words but it’s getting overwhelming.

Statins only lower the risk of another heart attack by a tiny fraction! The side affects are more likely than it helping you in the future so dont think they are a cure all because there NOT!!

If we do not challenge (in a polite way) what they see or what they hear, will it not reaffirm their behaviour.? Omission is fine, but agreement for the sake of harmony.. wont that again reaffirm their behaviour? Just thinking loud.. The above video is brilliant though.

I am 13 days out of the modified Bentall procedure with the konect bovine tissue valve. Was in great shape when I went in with minimal damage and classified as Stage C: A Symptomatic. I am 60 years old and made the decision to have surgery one year after the diagnosis of severe aorta valve stenosis. Took me that long to get my nerve up. I was working, and I felt great, what the heck? Third opinion I said let's do it because I didn't want the recovery to be ridiculously long and/or my heart to be irreversibly damaged by my own hand because of my cowardness. The first week out of general anesthesia is NO JOKE and it does hurt. I've been home for three days and begin warfarin tomorrow evening for three months. Feeling very good. Surgery is not the problem it is the solution. 02/28/24

My mother has dementia but was very abusive before she had it so it escalated with her dementia. Difficult to ignore the trauma while trying to make her comfortable. Really honest it's perhaps better for strangers to care for her at this stage.

Regarding how many times you can work and strive to de-escalate situations, we can have outbursts in the same manner. It is so sad ....the deteriorating brain, but it is cruel on the caregiver who has to deal with these violent outbursts!! My husband is 16 years older and now 89. This disease ruins a long-time marital relationship. The bad times with the disease overpower good times. I feel like a single person and have lost any love that was there.

I love this. So simply and gently put. I am not of a indigenous back ground. My people are from Appalachia and my grandmother's used the plants as food and medicine along with other ways of healing ;) and they handed some things down to me and as I go through life I have learned more from others like you and I thank you for your knowledge and your natural ways. Wish I could do that. My Husband's delusions and hallucinations are of me having affairs. We been married 35 years and I have never been unfaithful to my husband, so when he accuses me I cannot agree to it because it's not true. So we , both get agitated. I have tried to brush it off and distract him but to no avail. Today as a matter of fact he ended up in the hospital because he got so enraged and agitated. I cannot do this anymore. Any advised, please.

My husband is bipolar. He has the same problems. He has verbal outburst, physical outbursts, and becomes angry quite easily. I was already a patient person, who never yelled, and was very diplomatic, and this works very well. Of course, your patience can run out, and that’s when I read from my Bible. Another thing that has worked for me, is putting on a really fun song on my phone. Figure out what kind of music your person likes, and just one little song can turn everything around. When I put a song on, he smiles and dances. It’s wonderful.

Think.’ It’s you and your DNA is responsible for your living, as it always has done.. The clever not being able to see forward, have only the future, just say it will do. You are not rescued but become a golden goose for the medical profession. You will live if you have the ability of believing in your self. The DNA is you. You cure you, by believing you can. Nothing is so definite as our ability to survive. The evidence is clear. You are in charge of your being you¿ as DNA. Will be as you believe to , your life. 😊 NA.

Let's draw on the positives/- a stunning presentation, and the Hospital will be state of the Art. We definitely need a new Hospital, but so do other regions. Let's stay upbeat and embrace the fact that the Cowichan Valley will have a NEW Hospital.
