Was that a YAK-52 sitting on the apron? Thanks for the video!
@thatvermontpilot826Ай бұрын
it was! There are a few YAK 52s at FSO as the shop there works with some people in Russia to send a receve aircraft. A lot of Cessnas are sent over for flight training....or were at least till the invasion. I'd love to go back to Russia someday and do some GA flying with my family who is still there but for now its stateside flying. perhaps I'll get a YAK flight too

I haven’t been inside since the remodel but seems like a lot of wasted space inside the new section. Also wish they wouldn’t have made it so the observation tower is not allowed unless you are a traveling passenger. My 5 year old loved going up there
@thatvermontpilot8262 ай бұрын
Yeah I agree. I really wish they had left the tower open for everyone. Oh well, at least us plane spotters still have the parking garage

Awesome! Just saw their other 707 today at Mildenhall! The buzzing noise you had is the microphone interference mate, caused probably by the airport's radar. I've had that issue with mics before, you want to get one with RF protection.

Highgate was always a dark place at night. Now days it’s simple, back in the day we were flying in and out at night, way before Loran or GPS. Although there was an ADF radio tower (if memory serves about 6 miles out?) and we used that to get us within 6 miles visual, or shot the ADF approach. There’s also a radial off the BTV VOR we could use for Highgate back then, but by the time you’re getting close, that radial is getting pretty loose and sloppy. What I used to love so much about flying way up in the north country like this trip? I would shut the comm radios right off. And I would just kick back, play my tunes, and make the trips I had to make. Loved it. I flew into all this airports in that entire area ferrying stuff, I had all the airways, enroute altitudes, approaches, you name it, committed to memory. Lol. When I was destined to Burlington VFR, I’d just turn my radios on before entering their airspace. On the way out, shut em off. Turn back on in landing Lebanon, but if not I’d leave them off almost all the way to Manchester NH, turning on when about to enter their airspace. It was really great, relaxing flying! I literally spent years hopping all the airports arriving from different starting points. Later my flying was almost completely in the northeast corridor! The busiest airspace in the world, flying into Washington DC, LaGuardia, Boston, Kennedy, Long Island and all that mess. Radio going a mile a minute 24/7, aircraft traffic everywhere. But the north country? Never! Just peace and quiet, and wonderful flying with the entire sky usually to myself! 🙂 PS. I was hoping you were gonna go around there at the end! Haha. Came in with double whites! White over white, “You’re outta sight!” Lol. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Hey there…. I can’t believe how dead it looks up at Highgate airport! I used to fly in and out of there all the time for years! Same at Alburgh, not a soul in sight. Damn! At Highgate (Franklin Co.) I used to even rent aircraft from the FBO back then, in fact, I used to rent a twin from them also, as well as fixed gear Cessnas and some high performance retractable gear singles. Is there anybody doing much flying there these days? Is the FBO still there, same guy running it? (His name slips my mind, it’s been YEARS AGO I flew in and out of there. Anyhow, your video caught my eye so I watched a couple, saw the newly paved runway. That’s nice! When I was flying the twin there it was as rough as Badgers A$$…. 😉 When it didn’t have 8” of snow on it to land in.🙂

@thatvermontpilot82611 ай бұрын
@@vg23air The FireFly is a significant breakthrough in ultralight aircraft. Easy-to-build and designed to be a legal ultralight under FAR Part 103. We have observed that most legal ultralight aircraft suffer from a lack of performance. We at Kolb Aircraft think flying an ultralight aircraft should be safe, fun, and affordable. Pilots should not have to give up performance when flying an ultralight so we have designed the FireFly to be a "real" aircraft with a level of performance that can fly rings around other ultralight aircraft. After all, who wants to drift around like a kite when you can be buzzing through the sky like a fighter? The FireFly also offers the mainstay features all Kolb aircraft are known for: quick-folding wings, enclosable cockpit, welded chrome-moly steel fuselage cage and, of course, outstanding performance. Kolb offers more safety, fun and performance in 254 pounds than any other manufacturer.
