I used to lift that round stone.. Very first one.. This is how the thing is.. I was very strong and lift 120kg at the age of 16 but the strong dude always gets angry on me due to lack of knowledge and I used to lift stone alone.. I destroyed some of the stones by throwing them into canal next to the stone lifting ground. 😂

If they’re taking it then everyone else is taking that’s competing otherwise there would be mass investigations by rival countries. So China is still #1

looking through the comments people seems to not know what exactly rips stance on this is. They probably just see his videos from short clips like seen in this video. What rip actually supports is that strength and technique need to be good. he always stresses how olypmic lift need to be practeiced a lot to be more efficient. but strength is the basis of the movements and it can be improved continuesly for years while technique can only go so far. so technique needs to be maintained after a certain point and strength improved throughout the career. thats what i get from his material having read the books multiple times and watched more than 10 mins of his videos.

I’ve seen high school athletes learn how to Clean and jerk, and power snatch with decent enough technique in about a week. It’s not that hard to coach and the carry over to sports like wrestling, football, hockey, basketball, baseball, etc are huge.

I'm a personal and a functional training coach, I started working at a gym where they wanted me to program my functional training classes like this, which was embarrassing, to say the least, the explanation was that some people are going to the gym just to have fun lol which doesn't even make sense because some of these exercises try to emulate the type of exercises an athlete would do, yet again if someone is trying to "have fun" there is no need for this craziness

The last stone which was labelled '5' is 200KG. The weight classification on the stones are a very traditional punjabi weight system. They use the term 'Maan' which equates to 40KG per unit. So if a stone say's 5 it means its 5 Maan which is 200kg. Or if the stone reads 4 30, that would mean 4x40 (4 Maan)=160kg + 30kg = 190kg

CrossFit this “functional fitness” or “dysfunctional bullshit” as I see it mostly - it perhaps led to more people finding the barbell. But it probably created a lot of this nonsense crap as well.

how about using non specific equipment to do classical exercises? over heard presses and curls with a hydraulic car jack? or spare tire? or grocery bags with 2 liter coke bottles.
