We usually meet at Towne Lake on the 3rd Sunday of the month, but we moved it to this coming Sunday, the 23rd because of Father’s Day. We usually meet at the center of the lake, where the small parking lot is. We’ll be there between 830 am till about 1230 or 1. Come say hi!!

When do you show up at Towne Lake? Do you have a calendar schedule?

Could perhaps still need more weight in the back, to avoid cavitation of the prop, but looks good

Thank you sir. This was my second try at it, as my first ran ok and didn’t leak, but I was coming from a lifetime of aeromodelling to scale boats, and really didn’t know what I was doing. It looked good….on the water….50 feet away😂 Again, thank you very much for the kind comment!! Cash

That 71 yr old boat may be a 32" Berkeley Chris Craft Cruiser. It looks like, and I may be incorrect (Googled), the Sterling Constellation was a 42" hull?

Thanks for your invitation. Seattle is a long way from Carrollton, but yes, I would surely join your team if I ever able to bring any of my delicate large scale model boats that I have now. Back in those days, I was the only one who would bring RC tugboats, fishing boats, trawlers and much more to the Plano Legacy Pond and generated a good amount of crowd. I fondly remember a newly married couple, puts a dollar bill to my boat when the model came too close to them with a blinking search light!:) And yes, there are those who dared to get down to the water trying to fetch the models something they never saw in their lifetime!! It was fun to watch! :)

I have seen that pond in Carrollton. Years ago, in Plano in Texas, I used to take my model boats to a great little pond in the Legacy Town Center every Saturday.

Plano is not as "model friendly" as it once was unfortunately. If you ever come back this way bring a boat and join us!!

I have had the same steam engine for years, used it in an RC boat (when water and wind is very calm) Called the "Fantail Launch II" also by Midwest Products. I added an oiler and a condencer to it and got a run time of about 25 minutes. I just ran it today after it was sitting on the shelf. I happen to check out some full sized steam locomotive videos on KZfaq and that motivated me to run the old steam engine again today. One thing I used to do to save warm up time I would preheat the water in a microwave before filling the tank. When I used it in the boat I would put the heated water in a thermos to bring to the pond. Thanks for posting.

I have a Fantail Launch in my kit stash. Im going to use this engine in it. Thanks for the tips on the preheated water, thats cool!!

On the Vac U Boat, with a 5800mah 2C battery. I'll be a race between depleting the battery or dying from exposure and starvation.😁

i'm thinking about buying one, but is there enough space for a bow thruster?
@cashrc2 жыл бұрын
I think so, it’s a pretty spacious hull. Might have to use the smallest available.
