Beautiful and profound song -- with an important message. American writer Susan Sontag once wrote, "The white race is the cancer of human history...."

i listen to it every week since it came out .I think the cover image here of Buddha is perfect because this song is all about craving, attachment, even addiction and the conscious work and effort of over coming these pain in the ass fetters. ;)

Interestingly the last sound reninds of a hammer gently breaking the chains. An allegory or just a coincidience? Don't think coincidiences occur with PG. 👏❤️🩹❤️🔥🩷

I’m a melanoma survivor. I have held back my whole life with what I really wanted to do. During the pandemic I started writing songs. I found it very cathartic. I did record three so far and threw them out into the world. Let your heart and words take you on your journey. You may help someone along the way. Best wishes to you!

I cry the way that babies cry, the way they can't deny the way they feel...... words, they climb all over you til they uncover you from where you hide........ WHHAAAAAAATTTT??? Love this so much. I showed my 19 year old daughter this song for the first time recently- because I'd forgotten my old and deep love of Peter Gabriel. She laughed at it but then was like- uhhh, yeah, that song is "buuuuhh dasssss!" LOL. Guess I raised my kids right. We're all music junkies cracked out on it as often as possible.

Everyone of his friends told him he was a musical genius. And he was. "But no one is buying my records" he said. So tragic

I'm 2 years an amputee and some days I'm so frustrated that my next life hasn't started yet. I know I should be patient, but I need to help my husband. It's hard living in one salary if you're used to 2. And I don't know what to do.

I listened to this song a lot 3 years ago in 2021. It was because I had this feeling that my mom was closer to the end of her life than the beginning and that I would have to learn how to live my life without her in it. She had been on dialysis for around 7 years at this point. I hate when I'm right. She died in December that year. That was when my real life began. I'm doing a lot better now, but listening to the song made me cry for about a year afterwards.

I heard this song in "Scrubs", a while ago now. Those days I was just married, waiting for my immigration approval to Canada in my country, while my wife was waiting for me. It took us more or less a year to be together again. I loved listening and learning this song, thinking that my real life was about to begin "any minute now". Thanks Colin.

Any minute now, my ship is coming in I'll keep checking the horizon And I'll stand on the bow, and feel the waves come crashing Come crashing down, down, down on me And you say, be still my love Open up your heart, let the light shine in But don't you understand I already have a plan I'm waiting for my real life to begin When I awoke today, suddenly nothing happened But in my dreams, I slew the dragon And down this beaten path, up this cobbled lane I'm walking in my old footsteps, once again And you say, just be here now Forget about the past, your mask is wearing thin Just let me throw one more dice I know that I can win I'm waiting for my real life to begin Any minute now, my ship is coming in I'll keep checking the horizon And I'll check my machine, there's sure to be that call It's gonna happen soon, soon, oh, so very soon It's just that times are lean And you say, be still my love Open up your heart, let the light shine in Don't you understand Oh, I already have a plan I'm waiting for my real life to begin On a clear day, I can see, see for a long way On a clear day, I can see See for a long way
