I guess the power operation of the cup holder covers had busted, hence the manual operation. There is a button on the steering wheel to control the covers. It was a $450 option.

They seem to still work flawlessly after something between 8 to 22 years, so I guess they're gonna work a bit longer.

@@rottin_3669 I don't know when this particular car was made, and Phaeton was in production between 2002 and 2016 - that makes it 8 to 22 years old. As far as I can tell, this feature hasn't been changed throughout this period.

Maybe, but for its time it was really great. My dad had one as a new car, along with the Touareg. I liked the Touareg more as an adult.
