"The best revenge is not to be like your enemy." - Marcus Aurelius

Yesterday, after more than 30 years of what I've come to realise and finally accept was a selfish friendship, I have cut ties. This message of dignity and courage could not have appeared on my feed at a better, most needed time. Closing doors on all "fairweathers" as I walk through these current storms to wash away what no longer serves me and embracing the rainbows to come
@Stoicism.Everyday1012 күн бұрын
I'm glad this message came at the right time for you. As Seneca said, 'Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.' Ending a long, selfish friendship takes great courage and self-respect. By closing doors on those who no longer serve your well-being, you're making space for positive growth and new opportunities. Embrace the rainbows that follow the storms, and know that your journey towards a more authentic and fulfilling life is truly admirable.

I'm truly sorry to hear about the immense challenges you've faced. This situation is deeply painful and unjust. Stoicism teaches us to focus on what we can control-our own actions and responses-while letting go of what we cannot. Marcus Aurelius advised, 'You have power over your mind-not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.' Seeking legal advice and support from friends or professionals can help you navigate this difficult time. Remember to take care of your well-being and focus on building a better future for yourself.

If a man cheats and keeps this from his wife and it Really bothers him eating him.alive shouldn't he confess so they can work through it or go to counseling to see why it happened someone answered that

Facing the consequences of our actions is a key Stoic principle. If a man's dishonesty is causing him deep distress, it may be a sign that he needs to confront the truth. Marcus Aurelius said, 'If it is not right, do not do it; if it is not true, do not say it.' Confession and seeking counseling can be important steps toward healing and understanding why it happened. Honesty and integrity are crucial for personal growth and repairing relationships.

@Stoicism.Everyday1014 күн бұрын
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you're facing. When dealing with a loved one's toxic behavior, it's essential to focus on what you can control - your own reactions and well-being. Marcus Aurelius advised, 'The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.' Try to maintain your inner peace and set healthy boundaries. Encourage open communication and seek support from friends, family, or a counselor for yourself. Remember, you deserve to be in a healthy and supportive environment
