Plenty of money would allow purchase of much nicer homes not a dismally sealed off place like this but money does not always indicate taste. One word about the thoughts on living somewhere like this is 'UUUUGH!'

I’m a mere delivery driver. Recently I had a delivery to a place on St George’s Hill. I felt sick that people actually live in places like this. The recipient of the delivery was the worst kind of customer I would ever want to meet. Spoke to me like he wouldn’t piss on me if I were on fire. I’ve got something that that man will never have… I have enough!

With all that security, and with the way this country is heading toward anarchy, St. George’s Hill is nothing more than a posh prison.

We should return to what the Magna Carter says about Tax and who pays it (those who pay tax are those that own land and properity and/or those that own business and/or part owe "shares" in business,and you pay according to the amount it is all worth, those that don'town any land and property or business don't pay any tax at all, unless you have a high wage
@southerneruk
@southerneruk 6 жыл бұрын
The Rich and powerful elite dont like to pay taxes that is why they did not like the old rates system, because it meant the more you owed in space to live in, the increase was leveled is such away you paid a lot more tax, they like the council tax because top band level only pays 3 times as much as the bottom band home, which means you can have home that endless number of rooms and endless amount of land and only pay a tiny amount in tax per square meter of space tolive in, while the those at the bottom pay a high amount of tax per square meter

Land that was stolen from the people and should be all returned back to the people. We all need to get back the right way of thinking and not the Norman Conquest way of thinking, one off greed and envy and if they cant own it they will distory to stop others from owning it. The right way of thinking is we don't own the land,we might own the building that we live in and out houses that are in full time use, also any crops that are planted or sowed

My dad was stationed on the Vickers Airfield at Brooklands during WW2. He said that the houses in St George's Hill were deserted, and said that some were sale for a ridiculously low prices **. I suppose the prices reflected the point that the factory was on the bomber flight path to London and was a prime target, and St George's prime collateral (damage!!). As he was a soldier he couldn't afford even those low prices, but wished he had "taken the risk" at the time. ** I think he said £250 (£13k in today's money), but as I say anecdotal......

@@SuperNevile Before the wealthy moved into st georges hill, this land was owned by commoners, The land was common land, for use to every one. The Diggers moved onto this land to work it back in the 1600s, but was removed 6 mths later though a court case that the diggers was not told about and could not attend, none of the local people who used the land where also not told, this was hjappening all round the country,land being stolen from the people and being fence off for some lord or other rich person to own

To all those who follow the politics of envy, just remember Winstanley came from relatively well off roots and (apart from becoming bankrupt in his 30s) remained well off throughout his life. This member of the Diggers was a churchwarden and Chief Constable, so not exactly a man of the people. And he didn't give his own home away. I worked very hard to make enough money to buy a home on St George's Hill (where the Russians, by the way, are massively outnumbered by us Brits) and I resent the shiftless envy of those who clearly have done less well than I. Oh, and by the way, that other "man of the people", John Lennon, had a house on the Hill. So books and covers, guys.

Mate, if Richard Dawkins worked hard to live in a de-commissioned church, I think it would be a bit rich if he got pissed off about people pointing out the Irony. Just saying is all. I'm sure you did real well for your self but alas no one can sell you a sense of humour.

Lets bring back the fair tax system of Rates Tax system, if people want more then they should pay accorden to the their greed of wanting more, At the moment the council tax system favours the more you have the less you pay, Homes like these should be council tax a million a year just to make it fair to others.
