Wow this is great stuff! Looking forward to trying this because I get stuck here a lot but I like your perspective that there are no bad positions. Well, maybe there are worse positions but I like the optimism and the techniques from what are often hopeless feeling situations

its more common and effective to frame with the hand in the neck of the opponent in the bottom. That wll actually release the pressure.
@bjjafter40Ай бұрын
The frame makes it easier to slide out and Darce 👊

What's the music? I hear it in a lot of your instructionals, it's great.

Wonder if you can finish with a sweep using this entry instead of finishing with the darce? Especially for those of us with stubby T-Rex arms that cant lock up a darce.

💯there’s a sweep which I didn’t show in the video.

I'm 37 years old and got really interrested in BJJ, so i started watching videos about it... there are sooooo many videos about BBJ injuries that i feel like it doesn't matter how clever and mindful i am, i will get injured anyways... So yeah, now i'm not sure i want to do this at the cost of my knees, elbows, shoulders and ears...
@bjjafter402 ай бұрын
That’s not actually true. If you train BJJ smart it’s all avoidable. But you have to decide. But what you miss out on in the practice of bjj is incredible…. I couldn’t imagine not having jiu-jitsu.
Positional sparring is a key that i feel is overlooked a lot of times. At 52 I limit myself to around 20 rolls a week but the rest is positional and has definitely helped keep my injuries down and recovery up. I also do strength and conditioning 3 days a week along with getting in 20 miles running a week. I enjoyed this podcast.
@cthulhu-jitsu74042 ай бұрын
I disagree a little here. I'm 48 and do train 7 days a week. I roll also 7 days a week and lift weights 3 days a week. It can be done, but there are some caveats. 1, SLEEP! You will fry yourself if you aren't prioritizing your sleep. 2, Big focus on Positional Sparring. Just free sparring is kind of useless after a while. You have to force yourself to work on your weaknesses. 3, Not having kids and a job that lets you work from home frees up a lot or your time for the first two.

I can’t imagine why anybody in the right mind would want to do BJJ seven days a week. I Like to do other stuff too. Lol balance ninja

Love the cryangle. Tried (unsuccessfully) pulling it on one of our browns and got a stern look and “you and your bloody cryangles”. Great tip on going for the single leg X sweep and if they counter by coming forward, there’s the cryangle. I’m guilty of going straight for it and people just posture up.

Serious question: why couldn’t the guy on the bottom just roll to his right to escape?
@FitProVR3 ай бұрын
@@bjjafter40i know his right arm is trapped, but what’s preventing him from shrimping to his right hip to escape and take the back. Thanks for answering my questions, i always liked the paper cutter for gi, I just mixed on it for no gi.
@bjjafter403 ай бұрын
Understand that you can’t take the back if the arms trapped. Every submission requires a push / push. In this submission this criteria is met by controlling the arm as you apply the paper cutter. Go and try the move… oss

You don’t make friends in BJJ with wrist locks… Kimura works faster from that position, if you already control the arm.
