incorrect! the first mandatory piece of information that EVERYONE should know about is knowing what depth you can actually dive to before you experience the bends. it occurs after 30 ft - basic diving knowledge 🤦♂

And I beg to differ with all those naysayers that come into the boat, calling people Rambo and foolish and all that other stuff It's either dive alone or don't dive Simple as that
@scottydiver5114Ай бұрын
90% of my life I've been diving alone, not because I wouldn't like to have a dive buddy but because I don't know anybody that dives, and I'm usually in remote places in the world where there is nobody else diving, and I don't know anybody that can go with me I do take every precaution, I always stay well within my breath-hold limits, very conservatively, set my watch with a timer to make sure as soon as that alarm goes off I'm headed up, always go up immediately and don't worry about the fish until I get some breaths That's all I can do It's either a dive alone or don't dive

Hello, my name is Monique Duncan. I live in Boise, Idaho. A friend told me about you and your vast knowledge on Freediving. I'm just now getting into the sport. Here in Idaho, we swim in rivers. I learned to swim on the Snake River. It can be a beast to navigate. Currents and channels is what we learn how to get out of at a very young age. My breath hold in the river is 2:48. However, I know freedive breath hold will be a different beast especially with the pressure on my body. I'm currently swimming in a pool due to it being still winter here. I have purchased my wetsuit, goggles, nose clamp and fins (Im not sure if they are the right length) I have people that are willing to be my safety crew I don't know where to navigate them for training in case of blackout. I haven't swam with my gear yet as I want to make sure I'm doing the things correctly right off the bat. I'm going to subscribe to your news letter now. I'm interested in zooms. I appreciate your daily videos but need to know where to start. Is there a series that takes me through from the beginning? I also need to know breathwork exercises. Thank you Monique P.S I should of put this in a PM but maybe someone else may have some of the same questions.

I have a question! When you raise the shoulders, are you taking air into your chest area? Or diaphragm? I’m sure it’s a fairly subconscious/intuitive thing, I’m just asking because I seem to end up with some excess air in my mouth when I raise the shoulders at the end. So I’m trying to figure out if I should consciously try to push the last bit of air into the chest or diaphragm area or both? Thanks!!! This video is really awesome.
@ImmersionFD3 ай бұрын
YOu don't want the air in your mouth because your body can't absorb the oxygen from the air in your mouth, so you want to get into your lungs. Some people find this method puts SO much air in their lungs that they become uncomfortable. If that's the case, just skip the shoulders.

Silly question - what if you breathe out, no weights, and still sink, just wearing a swimsuit? That is me. If I have air I float, if I lose it I sink like a rock.
@ImmersionFD3 ай бұрын
that's not a silly question at all. That just means you are very fit and don't have a lot of fat ;). That means you would need to wear a wetsuit not for warmth but for bouyancy.
Cool suit 😊 I use some ancient 5mm one piece, whatever thinner I buy it's simply too cold in it. I somehow think they used to make them much better like 30yrs ago then today 😢

Hello Ted, How long on average it takes for an untrained person to blackout from holding their breath if they don’t move that much? Will it take longer for a trained individual? Does size, gender, or age have an effect on the time it takes? Because while men are bigger and have bigger lungs, I guess they also have bigger oxygen needs.
