There’s a lot of thing I love about Phish but nothing quite turns my brain to mush like the mellow funk start to 2001 in conjunction with CK5s bouncing light effect. I haven’t done acid in over a decade but this moment live was as close as I’ll ever come to tripping balls while stone cold sober.

Love Classical almost as much as I love Phish. But the merger is lame. Lets be honest with ourselves.

I’m not sure if he’s still using it, but he gets that guitar tone out of a 5-watt amp. Michael Swart made it.

As a clarinet player in an orchestra, and an audience member at the show, I have to imagine the culture shock for the performers of something like this. We aren't used to audience members singing along, clapping along, cheering as loud as Phish fans do, etc. It's definitely different than anything they've done before or will do again. I'm sure they had tons of fun, but I'm also sure it was strange for those members of the orchestra who are only used to performing in an orchestral setting.

Why did you copy and paste this under all of these videos?
@coasters_bgwАй бұрын
@@tombadil64 because it remains true for each video, and I want to make sure that people see it to understand how talented the performers have to be to do a show like this

I say this as a clarinet player in an orchestra - that's not how that works. You simply cannot get an entire orchestra to rush. It quite literally isn't possible. Trey was supposed to follow the sheet music, as when you're playing with a full classically trained ensemble you have set arrangements, and he didn't. That's his fault. An entire classical orchestra is going to follow the sheet music and what they did in rehearsal as that's all they know. The conductor and performers did their job and did it marvelously. Trey messed up. In fact, on the conductor's music stand, there's a clock that tells him what measure they're on and counts the beats. If he had rushed, the entire rest of the song would be off time and would sound terrible. A more realistic complaint is that Don composed the arrangement at too slow a tempo. He should have increased the tempo just a little bit to ensure that it was the tempo Trey wanted to perform at

This was definitely a highlight of the weekend. The songs they played coming out of Space with the black and white film behind them were simply beautiful. Death Don't Have No Mercy (6/6), Looks Like Rain (6/7) and Standing on The Moon (6/8). Simple visuals.... just listen to the music play!
