For the extensiveness you tested and know about their issues, I hope Wonder substance is paying you actual money for doing these tests… I am one of the backer from 2021, gotta thank you if we are getting a better product.

Hi again centralisation of the pieces is an issue on my Square Off Grandkingdom board. My previous moving chess computer was a Milton Bradley Grandmaster phantom it went through a process of centering on start up and that was in 1982 and lasted 40 seconds. It would seem we have the same issues 40 years later .enjoying your progress

you checked opponent so no beep? always starting at H8 so nearest was always going to next square (diagonal rather than straight when resetting?)

How did you get it I’m still waiting 😢 how many more years before I get mine. They said I should have got it in 2023 and before still 2024 still don’t have a set. Why isn’t it fully finished yet. When do you think all customers will get the chess game set sent out ? A close guess.

I was able to be apart of the beta test group. Supposedly they should start fulfilling order this month but the month is rapidly approaching so I personally think it’ll be in May.

How would it work if two humans physically played against each other? Would it record the game so you can analyze it afterwards? Would be cool to see you test that as well if you have the possibility

As of right now, no game mode has the ability to record games except Lichess directly on the lichess website but that involves opening another app. I personally would love that be native to the phantom app

Thanks for the video, these self moving boards are still too slow to move, you lose a lot of time waiting for the pieces to get positioned, especially after a capture

I do find that in lichess. That’s actually why the game aborted. I ran out of time. It would be nice to see the message on screen though.

Looks great I recently bought the Square off grandkingdom set its been around a bit longer but sometimes has a tech glitch then works fine for weeks pos Internet gremlins. Will watch your progress with interest 👍

I'm a backer. The color differences of the pieces really bothers me. Also, weren't the pieces supposed to be real wood? These look like molded plastic. The system is kind of buggy. I own a squaresoft Grand Kingdom set and it seems to be 100 percent better than this set.

This is the single coolest thing i seen in Chess and i see this could sell extremely well. This could even work with the Staunton chess sets since in tournaments they use electromagnetic coils to track for screens. Except in this case it could be used like this video shows.

In some of your videos the mechanism sounds pretty loud. How is it in person? This video it’s not too bad, but occasionally it’s kinda gnarly. I know phone mic compression may make it more pronounced. Also, do the beeps come from the tablet? If so I imagine you could turn the volume when for silent play? Thanks for the uploads I’ve been following this board for a long time!

At first it was a grinding noise when the board was shipped. After I fixed it, the sound is like a quiet hum. I would say the level is less than that of a quiet laptop fan. It seems very loud in the dead of night but during the day, you can hardly hear it. As far as the beep, it actually comes from the board. The instructions with the board say you can change the sound level in the app but right now it is not supported. Wonder Substance says they have a major software update coming this week so I hope that’s included. It’s not very loud but it definitely seems loud at night and I wouldn’t play when the kids are asleep.

@@andrewh5968the end result of many years "work and research" with that much money. what is that duck tape doing there? what kind of thin rubber is that on the arms that just wiggles like that, what is that spring that you can just dislodge from under the magnet? why is it even possible that the rail jumps over that small barrier? I can see the whole thing just breaking after a year of use ... seems to me like a cheap fast student project.

As far as the rail jumping, I think that was a shipping issue. I wonder what could have been done to prevent it. I can see both sides of the spring. When I first saw the duct tape, I thought the same thing. It felt kind of cheap. For the cord itself I think duct tape was a decent choice but to secure it firmly to the board, a different material would have been better. I am concerned about the longevity of the duct tape…
