Just a few years ago Rusty was trying a speed record at Talladega without the restrictor plates..one attempt if I remember was without a plate and he hit 250..it was too fast and not stable.. and his car is 3400# and like a flying brick. I couldn't imagine what an Indy car would do.

The IRL tried Charlotte, the speeds were so high wrecks were inevitable.. spectators were killed.

1.. The newer grafik engines is so nice. 2-3 years we might not be able to tell whats CG and whats real. Second. This was driver Error. He hit the yellow lines. All "Permarnet" lines are slippery even the one on normal roads and it only gets worse with speeds. 3. This did not answer the video text. 🙄

they tested there years ago and the suspensions of the car cannot hold to the downforce.

Fighter pilots wear pressure suits to counteract g-forces, and there's no reason such a suit couldn't be adapted for auto racing, so that's not an excuse for why Indy drivers can't race on banked tracks.

Didn’t they run an F1 Ferrari car around the oval track at Daytona 10 or so years ago? I seem to remember them doing it to show the time difference with a Cup car.

So, any race, anywhere, the decision to do it or not, is always, 100%, based on money. Not speed, safety, rules. It is always a function of money. If it's unsafe, they just put in rules for that race to slow the cars down,, after a few years of killing people. Reality.

It seems like a pretty weak excuse not to race there. Surely with less grippy tyres or a lower aero set up you could make that race possible. You could also restrict fuel flow in order to slow the cars down. I can't imagine the safety concerns would be much different in that scenario than racing at any other oval circuit.
