Guitar effects???? Wow😞, yeah, that’s just pure worship when you can get in this platform and discuss “guitar effects”. Do you even realize what true worship is? John 4:22-24, it’s not making a name for yourself with this attempt to sway people your godly because your a gospel singer promoting yourself to the masses, yeah, you got to make a living, go be a tent maker, keep your skill and let God promote you. Glory seekers, I hate everyone of you. By the way, God hates things also. Sorry.

Just ran across this video - nice job describing and sampling. Thought I'd throw in 2¢ for electric-acoustic guitars. They almost always have to be amped to get any volume and pick up more tone and resonance - so they can benefit from a little 'attitude', too. LoL. I've actually used a slight phase for a few slower worship songs. Worked well🤷🏻‍♂️🎶😊

I play these small churches, 100 people would be a huge crowd but usually less then half of that. I usually plug a Gibson Les Paul into my (new to me) Fender Tonemaster Twin since it weighs a little over 30 lbs and is easy to pack in and out, plus it has a XLR (and cab sim) out making it easy to run into whatever little PA (if any) they have. Use the reverb if I don't have natural reverb in the building and sometimes my amp tremolo. That's it. Plug in and do it. My other (main) amp is a Fender Princeston Reverb (handwired 64 RI) that I always stuck on a chair and miced if I had to, but usually didn't. I never play with drummers, usually just pianos/organs. Maybe a bass player.

I'm waaay late on leaving a comment, but feel this guy's catching too much flak! In no particular order... 1. (regarding "harsh" tone) Keep in mind, many churches have multiple guitars, keyboards, vocalists on stage. His tone probably sits quite well in a cluttered mix. 2. (regarding his abilities/experience) This is church, folks! Most ministries cannot pay professionals. For a church gig, you end up onstage with people with varying (often limited) skills. I personally think it's cool when a novice works hard to learn the parts from a studio or live recording (of actual pros). 3. (regarding looks) I doubt he's trying to "be like" typical church musicians...whatever that is. Probably just picking a look that suits him, like any of us. Perhaps comments would be justified if ALL "church people" wore suits, and looked down on visitors that didn't. 4. (regarding gear) Daaaang...probably at least $8k worth of equipment. Cheer up, a Mexican Tele, a Blues Jr., and a few pedals do fine for worship. 5. ("edge imitators") U2's simple rhythmic hooks, with the right effect, work well for worship songs. All my Clapton, Page, Hendrix, SRV and EVH riffs, I leave in my studio (at church, it's not about me, it's about God:)

No one talks about worship guitar tone back in the day, as long as you play your chords clean and most importantly only use the clean channel of your amp.

So I just watched his video. I apologise that I made a comment regarding the best "Christian" guitarist, prior to watching the video. I like to read the comments before I watch. Totally my bad. I'm not sure how to actually respond to such a unispirational video. What a waste of every begining guitarist time. Love in Christ :)
