It is hilarious that this movie documents an actual crime committed by the US Government against it’s citizens. The test was not needed and was basically a publicity stunt. Many of those soldiers developed cancers from this.

Anni terribili, quelli! Politici, Generali e Scienziati si erano autorizzati a far esplodere bombe A e H, a piacimento. Il tutto, con la scusa della "Guerra Fredda"! E sapendo che, per convenienza reciproca, non sarebbe mai diventata "Calda"....

I always love the sociopolitical aspects of older sci-fi. Rod Sterling actually used The Twilight Zone to address issues he couldn't get past the censors with non sci-fi. Imho, this is what makes his version of the Twilight Zone superior to all remakes. I think at least one aspect of movies like this was about us trying to come to terms with our creation of atomic power.

Peter Graves acted in NUMEROUS films, yet the year he died, when the Oscar ceremony recapped all the industy people who passed away, he was NOT mentioned. That was an unfair oversight.

I remember this movie from Chiller Theater on channel 11 in NY back in the 60’s. Not one of my favorites - but it’s a classic B&M B movie.

I like the picture of Barnaby Jones hanging in the colonel's office. He must be president in this universe. So much to love about these movies. Go from an imminent plane crash to showing up at the base gate, a bit ruffled up but hairstyle intact. A giant surgical scar. Shrug. Golly, must have got it in the crash. Oh, only ten minutes in. Back to the show!

If you are going to disect everything in these movies , then this genre is not for you ! My god dont take everything so serious ! Werner Von Braun, said it had a serious message! I thought so too ! No silly monsters or aliens! Very different entry & enjoyable !
