Bond on bond on the curve 😢
@slbleadworksКүн бұрын
Yes I did notice them. My roofer done his best to avoid them. Where’s there’s bond on bond there’s lead soakers underneath. Originally it had bond on bond too. Thanks for watching.
@johnallright68472 күн бұрын
Nice neat work , am a little afraid of erosion on the curve where the tiles touch the felt, and any water ingress may not run away as in normal battening and will find its way in through eroded felt caused by wind and extremes of weather moving the tiles daily!
@slbleadworksКүн бұрын
Thank you and thanks for watching.
@wotnoturbo2 күн бұрын
String lines could have been used somewhat like a spiders web to get your bond & cuts perfect on the curve, looks good otherwise.
@slbleadworksКүн бұрын
Oh ok. I’ll pass this on to the roof tiler. Thanks for watching.
@tomalley7982 күн бұрын
Job well done. Did an amazing job👍 wouldn’t minded seeing how you battened the curved roof though.
@slbleadworksКүн бұрын
Thank you. I just done all the easy bits. The curve wasn’t battened. The roofer nailed into the existing boarding like it was done before.
@675gixer2 күн бұрын

How did you curve the gutter?
@slbleadworksКүн бұрын
The guttering on the main roof was done back in 2018 by the builders at the time. It’s just done in short sections and union brackets.

What is the lifespan of a shingle like that? Nice job.
@slbleadworksКүн бұрын
This isn’t shingle. It’s concrete tiles. I’m not sure how long they are expected to last to be honest.

Enjoyed the video,really helpful,I hope you don’t mind me asking a few questions,I am a roofer/Solar by trade,however lead welding is something I’ve always struggled with,I do have a oxyturbo set at home I’m having a practice with,1,what’s the ideal size nozzle to use,2/if the flame is too hot and burning through the lead,am I using to much oxygen or gas?
@slbleadworks3 күн бұрын
I’m glad you’re enjoying the vids. I use a number 3 nozzle. And if your burning through the lead your using too much gas or keeping the heat on for too long.

Good work as always. However allays used to tile around pipes as you have done until l did the LSA course and looked at the manual that shows the lead on show below the pipe. Which then allows the tiles to sit on the battens.
