Ouch. That metal scourer will leave scratches in your stainless steel- throw it in the bin. Use steelo or super fine steel wool pads instead. I know after I badly scratched my favourite pots- deep scratches everywhere 😢- it was before I bought some of that Pink Stuff but I really want some bar keepers friend but no stock on any shelves.

Citric acid needs boiling hot water to activate it for cleaning. You should have submerged your cutlery completely under water to have cleaned all of it, not just half of each cutlery piece. I use half a teaspoon or less once a month in my stainless steel kettle to make it shiny and sparkling clean on the inside- boil one third kettle full of water then add less than half a teaspoon of citric acid and let soak for 20 minutes then add more water to top up the kettle until full and boil it again and then leave for another 20 minutes. Then empty your still hottish citric acid kettle water into your toilet to clean your toilet too. Rinse your now sparkling clean kettle clean and extra rinse by boiling fresh water. You can use more citric acid but I don’t like to waste it. And yes it does clean toilets too- just don’t crack your toilet bowl by using too hot water. You’re lucky you found such a big tub of it. It’s beautiful to clean with.
