Also have this bag and I use it for clothes and travel. I do not bring a laptop or anything with me and I can fit more in that bag than I can and a rolling suitcase. It has a natural compression to it that I have been able to pack filled and still be able to slide it in the smallest spirit airlines luggage check. I have the professional

On the Mother load you could tighten the straps and loop the bag sideways around the wheeled trolley. eBags has come out with a new version of this called the DLX Mother Lode that has unattachable padded hip pads but I haven't been able to find any reviews on YT on it. I like the size and features of this bag and am thinking of ordering despite the $30 shipping charge to Hawaii!!

I have a favorite travel bag that I want to share with you. You'll also love Nomad Lane Bento bag for travel. It has a trolley sleeve, key leash, a lot of compartments and fits under the seat. It is very convenient to use.

The crush proof cases are removable (it really isn't obvious), gives a lot more room if you don't need it.

Hi Leslie! I've shared a direct link in a few of the comments on here (didn't want to put them in the description and get accused of affiliated links, yuck) but they may have changed the name of it to "pro weekender". Good luck on your travel bag search!

Thanks for the side by side review! I’ve read some people use the sternum and waist straps to attach the Motherlode or Junior to a rolling suitcase handle. And that crushproof pouch on the professional is a good security feature, since it’s against your back if you’re wearing it.

Buying zipper pulls will change your life. There are maxpedition ones on Amazon. Get both the big and the small. (Big for main compartments)

The handle towards the bottom of the TLS ML is so that you can pick it up from the top, and put it into the overhead bin, and pull it out easier (one hand on that lower one, one hand on the very top handle)

Just bought the "Flight". And you're right. It's not the most reviewed. But it has features I like. Good size, for a bit of overnight clothes packing (along with laptop/tech packing). Easy access top pocket (that isn't TINY like many easy access top pockets). A serious water bottle pocket. Not some short one that makes you worry about bottle slipping out (which is why I didn't get the "Slim" version). And of course, a travel backpack MUST come with slip-thru sleeve for stacking on bottom luggage. Many don't! It's so important though when walking through long airports. Great review.

Please tell me exact name of that flight bag you chose. I cant find it online. Thanks!
Thank you for this video, I wish there were links and the bags were different colors for better identification but I get it and I think I like the first one, thinking 7 days in this bag, hope it works out! Would rather have wheels (and they have it now but defeats the ease of getting off/on plane without getting stuck in aisles with the wheeled bags). Bags on your back without a great hip support gets real heavy fast.
I bought my mother-in-law the Flight Backpack for Christmas. Thank you for the recommendation! I think she will love it.

Hi, I just stumbled upon your videos. Great reviews and summary! I have the MotherLode (large size) and have taken it around the world twice as my only bag. Spoiler: I love it. I gave up the Professional Weekender for the MotherLode because the former was simply not as comfortable for me. I may be able to clear some things up. First, it does not have the ability to attach to a rolling bag as it is way too large to be considered a personal item. It is most certainly designed to be a full-on replacement for a piece of wheeled luggage. Admittedly, though, the option would be nice. Secondly, the water bottle pocket is virtually useless. The design of it leaves a full water bottle flopping back and forth which gets annoying very quickly. The Professional's water bottle holder is way better, holding all kinds of bottles very firmly. The handle at the bottom of the bag, the one that you put over the extended handle of the luggage, that's a grab-handle to help hoist the bag into an airplane's overhead bin. I have put a thin piece of stiff-ish plastic into the laptop compartment to stiffen up the back of the bag as I felt that the bag was kind of lumpy when fully packed. My point of contention for the Professional line is the top and side handles being elasticized. They did not give me as much confidence when under load as the handles on the MotherLode. All-in-all, I could not ask for more from a carry-on sized bag than the MotherLode offers. It has a ton of room inside and is loads easier than rolling a wheeled suitcase over old Europe's cobblestone streets. Come to think of it, the only upgrade that I would want would be in the water bottle holder.

The thing she's missed is the bottom front pocket is actually a removable case. Release the inner flap and the entire hard case comes completely out. Great for cumbersome cords. By removing it, you also acquire lots of additional space. After you remove the case, go to the laptop compartment, collapse the bottom protection shelf and you gain a ton more room!
