I’m considering leaving the SF Bay Area and moving to OKC. It’s far cheaper in OKC of course so my retirement money would stretch for many more years. But I’ve only started my search. Houston is a possibility as well although if I really had my druthers I’d move to a climate that was warm all year long.

Hmmm...Everybody is married in this interview. It is the Bible belt. I have already spent many times going to church to see married couples with kids. If one does not like the bar scene, it appears one would be condemned to stay home. I am in Cape Canaveral and moved back from Berlin last year. Prior to that, I spent 22 years in LA => 5 years in London => 10 years in Berlin. It seems I will have to stay at home a lot if a good work opportunity I am pursuing materializes in OKC. There a no two glories together.

Are there any active large 55+ house communities with all the amenities, like Florida style communities. pool, clubhouse, classes, pickle ball, shows and so on. Not familiar with Oklahoma. I'm 54 looking to move in a few years, coming from NY, home is about 1million, looking to spend half that, but lots of community events to keep me busy when I retire.

Okc isn't bad at all. I've lived in Louisiana, California, Maryland, Alabama and now Oklahoma. I can say Oklahoma give them all a run for their money unless you need the excessive big lights and traffic congestion and superficial people. Because Okc isn't that kind of place. Down to earth. Affordable. Plenty of entertainment.

Oklahoma is more conservative.. hint the nice people and cheaper living, low crime, entrepreneurs..

Edmond has a ton of traffic and no bicycle areas and few sidewalks only close to the college and full of a bunch of entitled extremist religious cults that leave flyers all over the place. Also the older population is fighting EVERY thing that edmond is trying to even update

I love OKC people, I’m from San Diego California, I’ve been to most big cities in America except NY. The big cities seems to have posers and fake people, small cities have the more genuine kind people who value friendship and family more than work and money.

I’ve lived in Oklahoma City all my life, and I must say everyone here is absolutely wrong. Oklahoma is a wasteland full of racists and self absorbed idiots. I worked during covid and everyone I worked with refused to wear a mask and even said they didn’t believe covid was real lol. Btw it was a fast food restaurant, so no doubt they spread it to our customers.

Okc is getting super ghetto. We have shootings every week.

And the homeless and panhandlers are getting aggressive on the street,like liberal cities. And it's not safe here anymore for alot of reasons.
