What’s crazy is that all he had to say, is that the in color scenes are chronologically backwards, while the black and white scenes are chronologically forward. I love the man, but ofc he had to take the pretentious approach.

Finally got his due this year, tho I'd have been thrilled if he got it for this, IMHO, his Best work. Too much for its time, pun intended, i suppose. You can't tell me A Beautiful Mind is a 'better ' film.

Exceptional, Nolan easily conveys the view points of all sides and even demonstrates this with the diagram with only a few moments to think. Its genius

The Prestige to this is, Christopher Nolan is in fact NOT left handed. . .

Watched it yesterday. That's a story that couldn't be told any other way. In fact, the whole movie is more about how the story is told than the story itself. Telling it backwards was the only way of putting us on Leonard's shoes, on how he constantly has to backtrack what happened and how he got there. He doesn't know who to trust and neither do we.

I have watched the film many times but what he says here and the talks about imagination distorting memories… is that a suggestion that what he was told by Teddy that he is Sammy isn’t reality? This is so layered, incredible how his films make you think and feel
@properduction25863 ай бұрын
Wasn’t it obvious ? It was Leonard’s way of coping with it or him lying to himself by making up the same story but with different character like Sammy is Leonard and the wife is actually his wife… Leonard despite knowing that he killed the right person decided to make a note telling himself(when he forgets later) that Teddy(the cop) is lying to him when Teddy was clearly not lying…

Finding out his brother wrote the short story is so heartwarming - particularly since I know the ending/twist of one of his later movies, which is in fact my favorite modern era movie of all time.

Yeah I get it.. it's just Christopher Nolan wanting to be pretentious. It's like having a riddle.. but telling it terribly by leaving SUPER important information out. As for the ending it was really cool, even he wanted to fool himself. This was out of order, like Pulp Fiction, but instead of the briefcase pushing the plot forward, it's the Polaroid and the his memory.
@properduction25863 ай бұрын
The message that i get from the film is that we lie to ourselves sometimes to distort the actual truth…Leonard at the end despite knowing that Teddy is not lying makes a note saying that Teddy is lying…

What is even more amazing is the specific nature of Leonard's injury. Only his left hippocampus--the one that stores words and numbers--is damaged, not the right, which stores and processes visual and spatial data. Leonard does have memories after the incident, but they are all visual. Otherwise, he wouldn't even remember the incident itself.

It’s 2023. I’m 27. I’ve been alive for over 2 and a half decades. I can’t believe I haven’t seen this film until recently. I’ve seen all Chris Nolan films starting at the dark knight. I’ve recently stumbled across this film and have been absolutely fascinated by the whole thing. He’s gonna be remembered for a long time for the movies he’s made.

As a classical musician who's played in orchestras, one detail I noticed that I've not heard mention of in any reviews of interviews is that the movie starts with a classical orchestra detuning, rather than running. it's a lovely detail.

After so long so many recommendations I just watched memento right now about 12:00 at night and I don’t get it at all it’s a grate film usually when I watch a film like this I watch someone brake it down and I was just going to watch some random guy talking about it but we got the man himself and trying to understand him is like I don’t know I thought I understood complicated movies like for example there’s a movie called memory’s that is a old anime movie and I thought I understood that so I thought I could understand everything else even other movies from Nolan like tenant but know I don’t know but it was a grate moive

Easy, Leonard wife survived the attack just like Eddie said, but Leonard did however suffered from memory loss from the whole ordeal, that's why the flashbacks when his wife is in bed with him you seeing with tattoos, he was living with the memory loss while his wife was alive after the incident. He killed his wife just like Sammy did with the insulin injections, he denies he denies it because of guilt plus the memory loss
