Whenever I see this footage, I just keep imagining Hank getting back up on his feet like he did the first time this happened...

I remember watching the March madness and when he made that final shot when he dumped the ball in the basket and when he went to the back of court when he collapsed that was just hard to watch 32 years ago it doesn't seem to be that long they was going to draft him to the NBA because he was so good and talented but he never made it

Hank Gathers and Chuck Hughes didn’t die in vain. Because of those incidents Buffalo Bills and Bengals team doctors had the knowledge and hindsight to save Hamlin.

WHY NOT?? That's why they covered the 30th anniversary. Without his death, there's no news to cover 30 years later. Whuss!

I remember the moment like it happened yesterday! It was the saddest moment in the 40 full seasons of keeping up with DI hoops! My senior year in HS and I was watching that game on cable! Cing him fall and go limp was and still is so surreal! Doesn't seem like 31 years ago because it still resonates! He was a Greek Adonis in a basketball uniform like he'd been sculpted! A phenomenal athlete who's potential for a lengthy NBA career was limitless! Gifted in his case was a legit understatement!

Chris Myers and many other journalists back then used to ask good questions where an athlete would have to provide an insight. Now everyone just kisses ass

Thanks for posting the video, I enjoyed watching 'Up Close' growing up and this brings back a lot of great memories. I recently thought about Up Close and Deion Sanders appearance on the show, specifically him recounting a suicide attempt-It's interesting to see an athlete so successful after Sports that was that down or reaching the ultimate low point in the midst of hugely notable career(Super Bowls, World Series, Highest paid)
