Very good to see you recognized as a journalist by getting a great interview with Cayden Lindstrom. It's hard for bloggers and podcasters to get such interviews sometimes.

I'm on the fence about this guy. I really thought Woodcroft would be the pick. I was listening to Steve Dangle and he said something to the effect of, "Columbus must have a water issue, its like they hire people that have a good mind for hockey, these are hockey smart people, and then they proceed to make the worst decisions possible! They didn't make these types of errors in their previous positions. Waddell left Carolina on good terms, they even allowed him to interview in Columbus before his contract was up. He gets the job, heads to Ohio, fires the coach (which was expected) before the draft? Ok, no problem he must already have someone ready to go, right??? NOPE, every coach he mentioned turns down the offer!". It is of fundamental importance for the GM and the head coach to work together when bringing in new talent. By skipping that aspect you are putting everyone in the situation a step behind. Obviously this can happen from time to time, but if its preventable the you should prevent it"! This quote is from memory. Don't be mad, I know its not word for word.

I personally would have liked to see Joel Quenville as coach and try to work a trade Laine for the goalie prospect from Nashville and maybe some other pieces. I know that the whole Babcock fiasco probably scared them away from Q but they are 2 very different coaches and Babcock was a horrible decision from the beginning. Hopefully Evason will surprise us and turn things around quicker than we think.

I’ve been so out of touch with hockey since the Dayton Bombers left and the wife and I have never been to an NHL game but already have tickets for September 28 and opening night, ready to get this party started and get back into the game. Thanks Jay for your podcast! Scott

I honestly don’t know much about this guy, but what I do know is we need structure and some grit behind the bench. This guy seems to have that. We need these players to be pushed. That’s why we always over achieved with Torts. The guy demanded 110% effort, even if it rubbed some guys the wrong way. Idk, we just couldn’t move forward with a guy like PV. The guy had the personality of a wet napkin. So many times I’d find myself yelling for him to get amped up and yell at someone ha

He was my last choice of the 3 final names, so I'm a bit underwhelmed BUT, yes Waddell knows and has access to people who know, more than we do. Let's see what he does. Looking forward to your podcast w the Wild podcaster.

I understand your point. It’s not about the playoff right now with all of our young guys. But he never won a playoff series as a coach at any level. It means there’s something under the hood not good. He was my last choice of all the names mentioned.
@Nokkblackmetal2 күн бұрын
Idk about this. I feel a bit skeptical. Glad they have a coach with experience though. I’m hoping for the best. It’s still going to take a couple of years no matter what to talk about playoffs. Now we wait for Laine to be released from player assistance program.
@uttermanbo2 күн бұрын
It's more about the talent, molding it together. Paul Maurice only took nine teams to the playoffs in over twenty years before taking over Florida. Zito transformed that roster into what it took to win. Of course Florida did win the President's Cup prior to Paul being hired. But you gotta hope for the best.

I'm not getting that feeling at all, but I hope I'm wrong! I know the goal is the playoffs and the Cup, but the bar is set so low that I'd be ecstatic just to watch us be competitive, give the fans something to cheer about!

I want to know what in gods name is taking so long. If there’s any team in the league that needs some stability, it’s CBJ. All of this time that’s passed could have been spent team building, practicing a system, team culture and vision etc. And here we are, waiting until the last minute wasting time. I know you want to get the right guy for the job, but damn. This is getting into the self sabotaging territory.

I certainly don't expect much from Jack Johnson. I mean he's no better than a #6 or #7 or #8 D-man at this point, but he's one of my favorite all time Jackets. I am very happy they brought him back. This is a good deal for the Jackets.

As a 54 yr old Habs fan Sean Monahan is a star!!! Period!!!! He will change the Bluejackets dressingroom into a winning culture. I cant say enough about Sean. Being reunited with longtime friend Johnny hockey will only raise both their games back to the Calgary days. Monaghan's intangables like faceoffs,power play and penalty killing is worth his salary alone......Sean Monaghan will change the Bluejackets into a winning franchise and nobody better to guide all the youth in their system into winners
@TroyNoak4722 күн бұрын
Here’s a list of reasons why Sean Monahan is one of the best value signings this free agency. 1.) Monahan has the 20th best faceoff percentage in the NHL. 2.) He plays the bumper on the power play unit which is the hardest role to find players for. 3.) He is one of the best 5 on 5 producers in the league; He had the same amount of 5 on 5 points last season as Steven Stamkos, Martin Necas & Kyle Connor. 4.) Monahan has the same stat profile as Lindholm & Horvat and costs about 3 million less per season. 2013 Draft class total points 1 MacKinnon 899, 2 Barkov 711, Lindholm 557, Monahan 538 & Horvat 504.
@dougo152022 күн бұрын
Monahan was huge in the power Play even when injured in Calgary when they shut him down he was the top power play scorer in spite not being hardly able walk or bend over ask Johnny PS he had a broken foot with Montreal blocking a shot in his first year with them still he played on it until they realized it was broken
@LockedOnBlueJackets22 күн бұрын
If he can fix the power play then he's worth every penny of that contract
@dougo152022 күн бұрын
Montreal’s power went down when he left Jets power play improved from bottom of the pack to middle of pack after he arrived plus he had two short hand goals PS he was out scoring MacKinnon at his start of his career until he started playing injured for at least five years or more and at that time he was there top playoff scorer also for the flames In one series the Ducks beat them in 4 straight games he had 4 goals 1 assist in those games a goal a game I think that went Ducks Won the cup
@benpezzot880522 күн бұрын
And I see elick and garner being in the wjc u20 also and I think medicine hat will dominate with him and McKenna will dominate the team and im a huge fan of him I think he needs defensive and more overall game is what he needs to work on if he plays a full season that should help and I got to meet fantilli at the draft party he was very nice and took his time with everyone there
@royanderson347823 күн бұрын
Monaghan? Who drafted him in Calgary? Now I get it. All these GM's never , never admit they drafted or signed the wrong player. Please let go of the past.

Demidov😢 But I'll settle for Lindstrom!! Elick is gonna be better than most think in my opinion!! Alot of Scout List I saw Had him anywhere from 18ish to 38ish!! He was in everyones Top 5 Best RD's!!! Couldn't agree more on the Goalie Pick, should've grabbed Goalie Eemil Venni who went 3 picks later!! And Yes I did DrAnk when you said "Snarl" 😂😂 Good Shiiii Jay!!!
@LockedOnBlueJackets23 күн бұрын
Elick is a really intriguing prospect! Could easily be a sneaky underrated draft steal in a couple seasons.

@LockedOnBlueJackets23 күн бұрын

Oiva Keskinen had a really great year in Liiga. His team Tappara has a very North American styled Swedish coach Rikard Grönborg and Tappara actually won Liiga. Keskinen scored 27 points ( 7 goals and 20 assists ) during the Regular Season. In the Postseason he scored 9 points ( 2 goals and 7 assists ). In WJC-20 he scored 5 points ( 2 goals and 3 assists ). Great stats for a 7th round pick ( #194 ).
