If you don't mind, I have a question about pastry. Why did you use substance? Why not texture it directly in Blender? I mean, Substance is superior, but most of those details will be gone while utilizing SSS. So, why waste time on substance? Love your work btw .

Thanks a lot mate, One thing is that you need to light your scene before the texturing, just to get a view of where you are going, then after texturing you can alter those, keeping a good visual balance and weight !

thought from title itd be blender from start to finish you can do both sculpting and lookdev without switching and best of all you can keep materials procedural within blender

Though Blender is a mutifunction 3D software, I prefer to use Zbrush to do it since its more convenient for me and trust me, texturing in Substance Painter and blender is not the same.

@@misanthrope_01 because of sunken cost fallacy. For AAA why indeed would they switch over and start from scratch when they already have invested in more than a decade old pipeline with subsidy incentives? The problem is when the consensus stays the same such as your regurgitated view that blender is not capable of achieving the same result of painter or zbrush, especially now when those workflows are soon becoming obsolete. But you can continue justifying feeling comfortable in your compartmentalized pigeon holed job position, does not alter the fact Blender is used for AAA films regardless, you just never bother to hear about it.

Dayum, the amount of effort for that steak is huge, but the end result is worth it.
@yonlaycabrera443111 ай бұрын
Very nice. But Blender is just a piece in your pipeline, not even the most important one, which I think is ZBrush in this project. That is not a problem at al of course, and I support it. We have to use whatever tool allows to get the work done. But why to highlight Blender in the tagline? That is totally misalignment and disappointing.
@pom79111 ай бұрын
i agree
@cgrealism11 ай бұрын
Yes like every software, I used them efficiently and to their full capacity, The main reason i use Zbrush, its because its convenient for me and it can go 20million polygon without crashing which is great for hyper details :) But very sorry that you were disappointed. Hope you've learn something
@pom79111 ай бұрын
@@cgrealism No one in this comment thread is telling you to not use Zbrush, the problem is the clickbait on your title. I guess putting "Zbrush, Substance and Blender timelapse" is somehow not as concise or attractive as you wish it was but your outcome is misleading and misconstrued as I would not have clicked otherwise. Your attitude does not help in seeing the issue. Hope you've learned something.
Damn, never thought i'll be hungry watching a CG timelapse video.

@@misanthrope_01 profesional user response, having every step of the pipeline within a single software package will save you time, headaches, troubleshooting and money, not to mention the modeling approach changes considerably when you see beyond sculpting + retopo and figure out you can skip most of the retopo step with good modeling practices. Most zbrush artists choose to stay in zbrush and nothing else, with an extremely unoptimized output. Granted they can think ahead and optimize but in my years of AAA this is hardly the case, for every zbrush sculptor you have a dedicated retopo slave that will clean up the shiny zbrush work. For painter the same applies, it all boils down to good practices yet you have artists that for some reason choose to paint in details instead of sampling, which you can easily do in blender all the same.
